Strange behavior with sound

I made a gun (static weapon) and everything works ok except sound for firing. For some reason it does not fade over distance no matter what I do. I even changed the file type several times, but no avail. I never experienced this before.

How does the engine decide from where the sound originates from?

you mean you can hear it at very long distance?

Might it also be due to the file format used, including bitrate etc? I know OFP was very picky about what bitrates it used with various formats, though I've little experience to say whether or not that case is the same for ArmA.

Most likely I'd say your DB level for the sound is way too high. I've made a couple posts explaining how this value works, maybe do a search...
