Playing flashpoint over an ipx/spx network

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have an Ipx/spx network at home and have tried setting up flaspoint games over it. I know it is working properly because i play Age of Conquerors on it all the time. I was wondering if this was possible to do? In the readme it says that any 100% Microsoft Directplay network is fine and i am pretty sure that mine is one.

Thanks for any help

I would suggest installing TCP/IP on your network too...

In windows its as easy as installing the IPX/SPX protocol to the microsoft network.

Yes, you can add the ipx protocal, and add novell client instead of the microsoft client. But now what do you put in the novell client for a nvoell server name? You don't, because you have no novell server on your network. So again, why are you adding a protocol on your card, when ipx is not being used on your network?

Lord of the 9, just assign the two machines two static addresses e.g. 192.168.0.1 for winxp box and 192.168.0.2 for win98 with a /24 Bit netmask (255.255.255.0). Try to ping each other. Really no need for SPX there.

I agree with TLX. My friends and I play LAN games. We use TCP/IP

10.0.0.1 10.0.0.2 etc.. For IP Address

and default sub net.
