Thanks, Opteryx! Great stuff for map nuts like myself. Too bad we can use it as is for ArmA. Well, I guess we could if it were an itty-bitty map From what I read WV is the "first" state to offer this data, which indicates there will be others in the future. Even if we can't use 3 meter cells, resizing the 3 meter data to 10 meter will still be more detailed than just the 10 meter NED.

It is quite a lot of data. I actually am crazy-enough and went and downloaded the whole DEM folder, it is 14 gigabytes of zipped DEMs.

Indeed, it is too detailed to be used as-is in ArmA but it can be re-sampled.

Out of curiosity - what means 'too detailed'?

You would need too small cell size which would make the island

lag?

Did you try to make a very small island with small cell size?

The other approach is to resize/stretch it or not?

The cell size can't be that small I think. Maybe for quite a small island though.

You can make 5 meter cell sized terrains if you run them on low view distance, anything smaller than that will crap your PC out regardlessly.

So this data has 3m right? Is it not possible to double the size

of the islands to stretch it 2x, 4x times making it 6 or 12 m cell

size?
