Warfare issue: People connecting causes major lag

I think most of you know what I'm talking about by now. When multiple people join in progress Warfare games, desync goes crazy and the game grinds to a halt. This is a serious issue and I feel something needs to be done sooner rather than later as it kills the experience for an otherwise intensely fun game.

I was thinking two things. Maybe cutting down the bandwidth used to upload infomation to connecting players would cut down on the problems. Of course, the longer load times to get in a game might prove to be a pain in the butt for some, but atleast once they get in it'll be smoother sailing for everyone in theory, right?

Or maybe, add a cue to connecting players so that only one player uses the upload bandwidth at one time. Once he's in, the next person could begin the loading process.

Anyways, short of everyone having access to much more powerful servers which can deal with the tremendous loads of running such a large game, some kind of workaround needs to be put in place to manage the bandwidth issue and enhance the experience for all. Or else I fear this little problem may prove to quickly become Warfare's Achilles heal in terms of public server play for casual gamers such as myself.

This isnt specific for Warfare only, but for every big mission.

The second solution is the best imho, the first to come would be the first to play, and the rest would be able to see how many come before them.

I guess its too late for Arma now, but it is indeed a real showstopper. Most public games are unplayable now.

IC-Arma Played last night with massive player base and it ran smoother than ever with no crashes. So.. Is the map. smile_o.gif

This is already possible, there's a parameter in server's config to control the file upload

EDIT : searching.... maybe I'm mixing this with another game's server config I've been working on recently xmas_o.gif

Yes but in IC there arent that many ppl connecting when the mission has progressed a lot. at least when I played IC, everyone joins at the start and only a few ppl join later.

My guess is that the server is strained too much if multiple players connect and recieve data at the same time.
