Run Viewer without ArmA Installed

I want to do some "traveling" editing on my work laptop, the o2 software seems to work but the Viewer doesn't, likely cuz its looking for an installed Arma.

I take the DVD with me, it seems to see that at least.

Anyone got the viewer to work on a development / non-game computer?

You need to have armed assault installed in order to run the viewer. Well actually you dont need all the game files. i think the arma.exe and the .dll files from your arma folder are enough to run the viewer.

do you actually read what i write? i said you need to have arma installed to run the viewer. However you can delete all the game files except the .exe and the dlls. once you have installed it

I guess that means I can't use it while travelling ....... "installing" a game on a work pc means I'll quickly be shown the door ..... shyt loads of remote monitoring.

well you could still try to export all the registry entrys from a pc which has armed assault installed.

Those are the keys you'll probably have to export.

The registry entries are one of the first things you look for, when you check a PC for installed games.

So if Gnat would edit the registry with that entries, he can install the game. There is no difference between those ways, install and delete the not needed files, or put the info in the registry.

1. game exe. put it into o2 folder. Use exe that do not contain cd check (officially after 1.09 iirc)

2. registry keys. import from your game pc

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA]

3. install openAL sound library

4. change all the paths in o2 settings. use cfg option to define config placement.

it will work if you do everything correctly. You don't need the game (on this pc) this way. checked long ago

In the end it is cheaper to buy a private notebook for modding, than get kicked out of the job for doing it on the work loptop.

As is said before, the Reg. entries alone can break your neck.

You should not take any risk when it comes to the job, modding is not worth loosing the job.

Does this require installation of O2 on the notebook also?

I am a fan of "portable" software, and was kinda trying to make O2PE portable. I exported the registries listed, but I suspect I need to export the HLMS\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ stuff that is specific to O2, also?

why not buy an external hard drive or usb thumbdrive and stick the game on that

Because it still has to have registry entries in Windows ... which is on the main computer HDD .....
