10mb mission ? how?

Recommended Posts

I use my own music in my  mission but how come the mission is like 10mb when others can have it at less than one mb? i have maybe 3-4 music but thats about it. Is there a way that we can compress the mission .pbo file or something??

yeah i agree with camp killer on that one!

also zip it to see the final size because thats what people are going to use to dl it anyway.... you can also set the compression size to maximum because the default is quite small!

Remember not to use copyrighted music if you are going to spread it around wink.gif

""Remember not to use copyrighted music...""

Rut-Roo...

Limp Bizkit - Rollin'

3min 30sec

Mp3 - 5.8m / 44hz-16bit stereo

I resampled @22hz-16bit stereo the file was like 3megs in ogg

So I crunched it down to @22hz-16bit-mono and got it down to 1meg in ogg.

full 3min tracks are not unacceptable if use in the place imho.

Exsample... this song I use for near the end of my mission... as your cessna starts to take off from the Malden airfield the song starts.... flying due south (and avoiding the occaional AA fire:) the song ends just as you go 'feet wet'smile.gif

Mission Accomplished.

What is the status of using copyright music in missions which are intended to be circulated but not to be put on sale. Are you bot allowed to do it fullstop, do you have to seek permission, will people give it etc.

It is elegal to use copyrighted music in a ofp-mission you distribute. It's just the same as sharing mp3s.

Remeber the Napster-case ? wink.gif

Well i don`t think  i could have problem because the music are only from some movie. Some are not even full. I have 2 of the movie commando but one of them is less than 25 second. Anyway i hope nothing can`t block me for sending my mission. If no site accept it i will just have to email it to anyone who want it. But i will look how much mb is it when compress. I forgot about that lol

I had som fun with adding my own music. But the other guys are right. Not only do long tracks not seem right in the game, they're not really worth having a massive .pbo file for. I'd prefer short, recognizable clips, and as far as copyright, any distribution of published audio (in any form or reproduction) is illegial, so, my advice is to use a fake name and distribute all you want!!!!

They are song without lyrics. And i don`t think commando is copyright. And who care? Im sure everyone here download mp3. If someone is against that just don`t download my mission. Simple as that. I didn`t right this thread to start a Metallica case ( Napster ) hehe

Here's the skin on Mp3's, to the best of my knowledge...

If you OWN a CD (you paid for) you may burn songs from it onto a CD for your own personal use.

Just like you can legally take 2 VCR's a copy a movie... for private use.

The issue with Napster circled around thier massive distribution of high quality mp3's. If I was a musician I would have sue'd too. Technically I suppose it's not right to rip intire songs for use in OFP mission that plan to be distributed to the public. But come-on... think about it... Like the FBi's gonna come kicking in your door over a 22hz-16b-MONO .ogg file you put a mission... NoT! lol:)
