    CIA Operator Teaser Pack

Actually, i believe the guys in the white landies are Brit special forces. This is not for reasons of personal expertise but more due to the fact that every major British newspaper published these pictures at the time of the seige at Mazar-e-Sharif (which is where the photos were taken) saying that these guys were SAS/SBS, as did the subsequent news footage. Hoever since i am an armchair expert , there are some other points to be made. There are obviosly US SF in the pics, like the guy standing by the wall at the side of the road with the beige jacket, but this doesnt mean the guys on the landies are. The M240 is not in fact an M240 but GPMG and, although i'm not sure on this one, the vehicle appears to be right hand drive, although this might not mean anything. I also heard a rumour that Brit SF wanted to travel covertly around the more remote areas of Afghanistan, so didn't go streaming in in DPM's and the tooled up Landrovers. However, unofficially, according to someone who has contact with those in the know, they were also doing everything they could to not look like a military convoy to friendly air callsigns, even to the point of painting their land rovers white in the guise of jouno's/aid workers. This could of course be bullshit but it seems logical.

    addon request: navy seals

Lol - shouldn't you black out the faces or something on that picture - seems a bit irresponsible to just put pics of special forces personel into the public domain without making an effort to mask their faces. Also, that asian dude on the far right with the goatee looks hard as fuck!

    Tears of the sun seals

Models looking really good, been looking forward to this for a long time, excellent work. Just one suggestion - i would recommend that you include the HH-60 Seahawk as part of this "pack" (with Extraction's permission of course) so as to really make it complete. It makes things a lot easier for us mission makers if we can release a mission/campaign which doesn't require someone to download all sorts of different addons from multiple sources. It would be nice if all the addons needed could be bundled together into one 'TOS Pack' for such missions so ppl would only have to make one addon download instead of several.

    New animations!

Hey this is great work, i just d/l it. However it lacks polish, not enough linking anims (ie reloading, switching from "gun off back), anims have strange effects on the player model (esp BAS troops, although thye work well on the AI for some reason!) and missing walking side-to-side for new safe walk (gun goes back onto the back, looks odd) Please don't take this as anything more than constructive criticism i appreciate how hard anim work is, keep it up!!

Bmgarcangel, you got a link for this addon - its sounds intriging but i never heard of it before!

    Bas tonal-tango pack

Lol..............yeah because that fancy MH-60 only took about 6 months of pure effort to put some "fancy stuff" on, and the Delta/Ranger's pack, yeah, of course i never saw it before, they just tacked on a few plundered extra's to BIS models - duh, how stupid of me!!!! Lol the Kawasaki just a remade BIS bike, are you blind my friend??!! Oh and Scorpio released his great Ch-53 independently after leaving the team, BAS was never affiliated with the final release -why did you bother bringing it up??? :
  7. Kris

    Did some one say

Finally, someone to take this on - this is exactly the sort of thing the community needs - fantastic work! If you can pull this off, it'll become OFP legend I do tell thee!

    Force recon please

Definition of OPSEC: "The process denying to potential adversaries information about capabilities and/or intentions by identifying, controlling and protecting generally unclassified evidence of the planning and execution of sensitive activities" Lol - saying your a member of a Special-Operations unit and where you've been operating breaks that slightly don't you think! Even worse is that you've said WHAT YOU'RE DOING NEXT!!! which places not only your life in danger but those of your fellow marines - i mean imagine if you went around in other more noticeable area's of the public eye telling people about how you were going to be in Iraq in a few months as part of a MFR team - USSOCCOM would probably blow a gasket! HOWEVER!!!!!!! i'm willing you give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you if you can these questions truthfully which i'm betting a Recon Marine should know: 1. What is your Age/Rank? Where are you from? 2. How long have you been in the Marines. What was your Bt/unit previous to joining recon? What is your current unit? 3. What was selection for MFR like? What did you have to do to get in? How long do you spend training/on phys each week? 4. Do you like being in MFR. Or do you think snooping-and-pooping is not all its cracked up to be!? 5. What is the name of the current Commandant of the US Marines? What is the name of the current commander of MFR? 6. What sort of training do you do, what sort of equipment do you use? Have you ever trained with foreign SF? If so, doing what? 7. What do you think of other US spec-war units eg Delta? Have you worked with them? Again doing what? 8. What conflict zones have you been in as a Recon Marine, other than Afghanistan? Answer me those questions and i'll apologise immediately for any misconceptions i might have had - get them all right and i'll even believe you're a MFR member!

    Project: uk forces.

Yeah that sounds good - i like the idea of more "unique" soldier models!

    Project: uk forces.

Bloody excellent - that is really top quality work!!! Just one query - you've got what looks like a nicely-textured '58 pattern belt on the outside of the jacket. Now i know in some areas of the British Army there is (in my opinion a rather antequated) preference for doing this (such as in PT/Assault course in DPM's where its practical if you need to haul some lardarse over a wall!!) but i'm not sure many soldiers wear one one the outside of a combat jacket in real combat operations, especially wearing webbing as well! (NB, i'm speaking from experience as a former army cadet a few years back while i was at school, (left a CSM after 4 years, get me!) - have been on several camps attached to reg army units, one of which was to germany on an attachment to RAC/BAOR during the buildup to Kosovo in '99 when i saw a lot of training taking place during which time i don't think i saw anyone sporting this particular fashion!!)

    Force recon please

Lol - oh nice and the US military almost did so well to keep the missions/location of its spec-op units classified. Ho-hum! So what were you up to in Afghanistan if you don't mind me asking - assisting ISAF, hunting down Taleban resurgants, BG jobs for Afghan politicians - all thrilling stuff i'd imagine but please do tell! Well its amazing how much time you Recon boys get to spend off - i know a few Royal Marines over here in Britain and they spend most of their time when they're not on operations training, pissed or in the gym! Mate the point is you just don't get real, active SF personnel posting on a bloody game community forum!!! And of course on the very, very slim chance this were ever to occur he wouldn't go round spouting out about how great he was and what top secret missions he'd been on recently! Â Now there are real members of the military from all arms and nationalities who post on this board both serving or with previous experience who's opinion's/experience i recognise as a valued asset to the community but they don't go around boasting how that they're big macho special forces men with spanky kit who go around storming embassies and killing bad guys - they're professionals, they don't have to prove anything and if you really are who you say you are, neither would you! Anyway before this descends furthur off-topic, anyone else waiting for MFR units, i reckon the best bet is to wait for Suchey and Earl's, they're gonna be the best in town - i mean we haven't even seen any shots of any new developments they might have made to them yet, not even the Beta-testers have (from what i gather) so it's a little early to judge the fact that they're gonna be limited in scope!
  12. Kris

    Force recon please

No hang on - why won't Suchey and Earl's be alright - aren't they modelling the unit on modern Recon Marines! Yes its only Woodland "Marpat" but if you want something else like the pic's you posted surely you can just use TOW Marines or even BAS Seals (when they're released natch) to double for them, no point bitching about the lack of current alternatives becasue highly skilled addon makers don't just appear out of thin air to serve your every whim - you have to use what we got already! I'd advise you to talk to Suchey and Earl about the Recon Marines they're making if you think they don't portray "your" unit properly, but of course, given your busy operational and training schedule that i imagine you have as a current member of MFR, i'm not sure you'd have much time before they get released. In fact how do you get so much time to play OFP...........................

    Soldier modelling

The easiest way i've found - assuming that you have your own textures which fit the model at first is follows: 1. Get the OFPDemo - v0.36 2. DePBO the Data.pbo file in the Dta directory. 3.Open the soldier model in O2, select everything, press E 4. Make a list of all the textures the sodlier model uses. 5. Get a decent hex editor - VEdit or HexEdit will do nicely - goto Download.com for a free trial. 6.Open up the soldier model with the editor and replace data/ with your addon .pbo ie if it was NewSoldier.pbo replace with newsoldier/ 7. Create a file with the same name (ie create new file "NewSoldier") and stick all the texture files + the models in there. 8. Replace/change the textures with your new ones. 9. Gaze upon your wonderous creation in Bulldozer. 10. Save 11. Write config.cpp, rembering randomn face + lods if you change the model. Sorted

B) This tool is an upgrade for the Oxygen program which will give the model makers an easier time texturing models. C) This tool is some kind of updated version of P3DEdit which will allow the masses to import/export the MLOD .p3d's to .obj and edit them. D) This tool is some kind of superweapon which will allow FlipeR and others to take over the world. E) This tool will be invaluable to the world's cheese industry. F) None of the above (Specify other) *NEW OPTIONS* G) This tool will allow the masses to edit units from the origional game and put them into the game BUT won't actually allow people to put new models into the game. H) Same as G) but only people with O2 will be able to utilise it. I'm hedging my bets on E) but I can't be sure. Please confirm. Â

*Puts on Sherlock Holmes hat* It's a mystery! What FlipeR seems to be suggesting is that in the coming week there will be some sort of tool we can use which will finally allow us to edit the elusive .p3d file. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Again, Kege prooved that he's a smart guy...read his post...he got the point of all this mess;) <span id='postcolor'> Maybe the "he got a point to this mess" could just be about the "opening doors" which seem to turn you people on so much but maybe a reference to the "other" thing that Keg said. Hmmmm, an O-LOD to M-LOD converter? Interesting. Very interesting. Speculation on some sort of extension of the orgional P3d-Edit program which FlipeR worked on - what happened to that a-lone-wolf bloke? Hmmmmmm. Maybe a joint venture with the OFPInternals team who seem to have a better understanding of the P3D format than anybody else. This would seem to suggest a good reason for FlipeR leaving I - if we get a means to get models ingame then it'll be flooded with all sorts of crap wihin a couple of monthes. Not good me thinks - it'll over-shadow the excellent work of realistic mod-makers like him, Kegetys and the TJP team. Hmmmmmm. *Puffs on pipe, thinking hard* </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">02L > oxygen light? <span id='postcolor'> Rumours aside, I'd imagine the O2L is indeed the Oxygen program which was released to mod-teams some months ago. I find it unlikely though that FlipeR's cryptic posts are hinting at BIS making O2 public - it is much more likely to be a 3rd party community project. However nothing can be discounted as there are rumours flying about that BIS were preparing some sort of press release about O2 before the floods hit the Czech Republic. Hmmmmmmm. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">no he wont release oxygen its against the law if he would do that<span id='postcolor'> Brilliant! Your reasoning is almost as good as the gramatical accuracy of that sentence! He's not talking about FlipeR releasing O2 but rather BIS. Elementery Watson! Watch this space..........
