Helo startup procedure

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I was thinking about the unrealistic helo startup, and I thought thats it's possible to make an addon or scritp that simulates the real helo startup. Well i'll explain what I mean, using actions menú ints possible to remove the start engine command and replace it for i.e. Turn APU on, then when APU is on add another action like start engine 1-> start engine 2-> increase engine 1 rpm -> increase engine 2 rpm -> disconect external power -> release rotator brake (the same as start engine). Once we've that, its possible to dissable the autostart when you press throtle up and add some sounds to each procedure?

I'm a noob scripter, somenone can tell me if its possible?

Thank you.

Yeah that could be fun if you have a thing for Helicopters.

But I don't think it would add significantly to the gameplay. it would probably make things a bit more complicated.

I am still trying to understand what the flaps up flaps down functions do when i pilot a plane.

I mean, imagine if cars in Arma worked like that.

Get in car as driver>

Put seatbelt on>

Turn key>

Press clutch>

First gear>

Press Gas>

I think an experienced heli pilot would do these things like a driver would. Without thinking much about it. It's part of the procedure...

I am just saying.

Hello master and thank's for your quick reponse.

I would you to explain why I want that script.

I'm from Check your 6 a simulation comunity that the only requirement its to simulate at 100% of realism, we've made a pack with addon that makes arma more realistic (close to real simulation ;D). In arma group we've our own academy to teach ppl to work together in battlefield and now we're starting to form new pilots. The script that i'm asking for its just to make the helo simulation a little more realistic and difficult.

I hope do u understand me.

Just a little helpful advice here. The correct order your helicopter startup should be is this.

1. APU on

2. Rotor Brake off

3. Start Engine 1

4. Start Engine 2

5. Engine 1 to flight (there are 3 steps for getting the helo ready for flight. Start engine, engine to motor, then engine to flight using the flight control levers. If you want it to be as realistic as possible...add Engine to Motor between start and flight)

6. Engine 2 to flight

7. APU off (The Auxilary Power Unit is part of the helicopter, so there is no need to disconnect external power. Unless of course you are using an AGPU Aux Ground Power Unit, which 99% of the time is only used for testing aicraft systems.)

I was a crew chief for 6 years in the US Army. I flew on CH-47 Chinooks, so my knowledge is first hand.
