Car gets jammed on bridges

Recommended Posts

I'm modifying the Fiat from Vilas' OFP vehicle pack, and there's a problem: on some bridges the car gets almost stuck. Ie. it still can move, but only at snail pace. This happens just before the seam between the bridge supports and the centre piece of the bridge, and once I get past it the car resumes normal speed. With enough speed I can drive past it before the car slows down. The only other vehicle I've noticed to experience the same bug is Sigma's excellent Mack truck.

Does anyone know where I should look at? Geometry? Land contacts? Or something in config maybe? I've tried to fudge those around, but was unable to fix the problem. I can also e-mail the files if someone wants to take a closer look.

In my experience its usually because of the wheel geometry clashing ont he roadway of the bridge.  Try moving the bottom of the wheel's mesh higher up.

You can see what i mean if you look at the Hummer from the BIS sample pack.

And make sure the land contact points are part of the damper selection.

Thanks, I'll try the geometry again! I'm not yet sure how to adjust the dampers, but maybe BrsSeb's tutorial gives a clue.

edit: I tried changing the geometry of the wheels, but that just caused the car to sink into the bridge (also Sigma's Barracuda does it differently). It must be that my dampers don't work - if only I knew what was wrong with them! The land contact points are connected to the wheels ok, but despite comparing to BI Hummer and Sigma's Barracuda I can't get it right. confused_o.gif If someone would like to take a closer look, PM me your e-mail address.

Oh well, never mind - through a great deal of trial & error I finally managed to get the bloody dampers working. Maybe I should try to write down how I did it... anyway, my Lada is now bridge-capable! Yay!
