CarlGustaffa 4 Posted December 27, 2007 Hi I've briefly checked some online documents about the organization of the U.S. SBCT, Stryker Battalion Combat Team (?). According to this, there are three mounted infantry squads of 9 men and two men commanding and driving each squads Stryker vehicle (per platoon). In addition there is a HQ consisting of some men and a Stryker vehicle. Lastly, there is the weapons squad, handling two M240 7.62 machine guns. This team consists of 7 men. However, as far as I can read, I can only see the platoon setup with 4 Strykers. How does the weapons squad move about? Hitch-hiking? Also, what would be a typical loadout in vehicles? How many rounds for the Javelin, if any. Is the Javlin normally stored in the vehicle (carrying only small AT weapons), or do AT soldiers carry along all this heavy equipment through the woods toward their objective? Any Stingers available? If so, is there an AA specialist attached, to which kind of group? Slightly confused Would like answers to make better and more realistic missions. But mainly, how does the weapons squad move about if they're not setup with any vehicles?
Trapper 0 Posted December 27, 2007 Just guessing... Weapons squad + HQ = 11 men ~ the fourth Stryker team ? IIRC from the Chain of Command mod HQ and weapons squad form a unit in US Army infantry platoons. If needed in some situation there shouldn't be a big problem to acquire separate truck transport for HQ/weapon squad needs, too. Thinking about german mechanized infantry platoons their only AA capability is based on the available machine guns.
Eda Mrcoch 0 Posted December 27, 2007 http://wish.htmlplanet.com/images/stryker-co.jpg Yup, we've been trying to determine this a few weeks ago and came to conclusion that it is solved ad hoc depending on the CO. There is actually no free seat for platoon's medic and FO. More here - http://www.strategypage.com/militaryforums/2-13483.aspx
