Real combat photography contest

Recommended Posts

Armedassault.info is proud to announce the launch of the Real Combat Photography contest or RCP-contest for short.

We hope this contest will promote combat photography and creativity in both 2D art and addonmaking, and to show to newcomers what ArmA is capable off.

Entries can be submitted from Friday December 21st 2007 until Saturday January 5th 2008 @ 22:00GMT (11PM). Entries sent even a minute later than this will not be accepted. You can enter into the contest by posting your entry into [this forum topic] along with the information that is required as per the Conditions of Entry that can be found in the same topic. After January 5th there will be a pre-selection, and we will inform you of who has made it through to the final. We will then proceed to judging the finalists resulting in the numbers 1, 2 and 3 being announced.

The entries will be judged by prominent community figures based on the following system:

The number 1 gets three points, number 2 gets two points and number 3 gets one point. After all of the votes have been collected, all votes will be put into a ranking, which will result in a winner, runner up and third place. Should there be a tie, the least edited (so the image that looks most like stock ArmA) will win.

[submit your Entry here]

Good luck!

Due to my lack of capabilities I won't take part in that... but who defines/decides about how "stock ArmA" looks?

Fairly simple process. You start up ArmA, open a random mission and start playing, that's "stock ArmA". The closest to regular gameplay.

Basically the concept works like this (addons can be used, but only when they're publically available):

++ Stock ArmA (may include simple filters such as adjusting brightness and contrast).

+ Photoshop/PSP added extras (like making a frame for it).

- Picture made using a pre-scripted scene.

-- Stationary (museum display type) pre-scripted and severely edited picture (a scene that would never be possible during regular gameplay).

Purest = most chance of winning.

Not that I want to submit anything but to view screenies can be nice or simply visiting the site.

Only problem is this:

"IPS Driver Error

There appears to be an error with the database.

You can try to refresh the page by clicking here".

So what is the problem at ArmedAssault.info? it cant be the tons of submits rofl.gif

Apparently the server wasn't installed correctly, or the database is corrupt.

Meanwhile I suppose people that want to can submit their entry here (just be sure to use hotlinks instead of direct links since it would break the forum's rule for image sizes).

Quote[/b] ]The Conditions of Entry are as follows:

-Most importantly, the picture needs to depict actual combat, not scenery shots or images suited for posters (showing a unit or vehicle like it's on display) or an excessively scripted situation;

-All entries must be made using ArmA, other games or 3d renders are not accepted;

-Every contestant may only submit one entry (picture), and it has to be made by the person sending it entirely, using other people's screenshots is not allowed, as is making a collage (one image containing several smaller images);

-The picture may not be more than 200kb in size, not even 201kb, and only a consistent file of no less than 800X600 pixels is allowed, several parts are not;

-Editing the picture is allowed, after all war photographers do edit their pictures as well;

-All addons used need to be listed, and if possible links provided linking to the addons from armedassault.info;

-Addons that are used need to be publicly available to make sure everyone starts out equal;

-The jury reserves the right to disqualify any contestant if any of the conditions are violated, to prevent this, please read them through thoroughly;

-In case of a tie for any place, whether it be 1, 2 or 3, the picture that looks most like stock ArmA will win;

-Jury members and armedassault.info staff may not participate to prevent a conflict of interest.
