Fluid posture

Recommended Posts

Ever had that problem where the standard postures either reveal too much of yourself or don't allow you to shoot over your cover? Sure you did, and that's why I'm suggesting fluid posture. (See Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield if you don't know what that is)

There are many ways to implement this, like pressing a key to activate and keys/buttons/scroll whatever or activation key+mouse or even TrackIR. It would be great in combination with weapon resting and stuff.

Vietcong had a good aiming dynamic. When you aimed, your character rose up to look over cover just enough to take a shot, then as soon as you turned off sight view, your character ducked again.

Your ideas would be good, but I think it's been mentioned many times before.

Bump.

I want to bring this up again, ArmA is missing certain features and this is one I'd really want to see.

I really agree with you on this one - one of the best ways I've actually seen this done is in Rainbow Six Vegas.

What would be nice is if they made a way to basically "take cover" against walls, or duck behind objects, etc... but keep it in 1st person view, and allow you to use your lean or Track IR to peak over, around, underneath, etc...

I can't go to far with this without also requesting that realistic penetration values for objects and cover be created too - if I duck behind a car, there should still be a really good chance I can get blasted, given a more powerful caliber or armor piercing rounds, etc...

Unless they completely overhaul their animation system, this isn't going to happen. I wouldn't get my hopes up about a fluid posture system.
