Wild Card 0 Posted November 27, 2001 I tried Vile's solution and it worked for me also. I uninstalled Nero and CloneCD and the patch finally worked!
Mister Frag 0 Posted November 27, 2001 Not to be obnoxious or anything, but even the official FAQ which hasn't been updated in ages mentions this. Out of curiosity, now that the game has been patched to V1.30, does it run with the CD tools reinstalled? Or are you able to live without those tools? Dragon213 0 Posted November 27, 2001 I just downloaded the 1.30 also and same as you all. The difference I think is that the 1.20 patch is labeled as an .exe and the 1.30 is not. Installation also says there should be a Setup.exe which there is not so maybe they forgot to add it. Anyhow since this company does not have the ability to fix their games without anyone having to make hardware ajustments, try Tom Clancy's GHOST RECON. This game just got a 93% compared to Operation Flashpoints 75% review in PC GAMER. They swear it to be much better than this game and is the best tactical shooter ever made. Check it out and leave this trash where it belongs.
Mister Frag 0 Posted November 27, 2001 Where did you get that patch? If you got it from the official download page, you'd have a ZIP file containing a file called OFPPatch_Upgrade_1_30.exe that locates the game and updates it -- there is no SETUP.EXE. It sounds like you downloaded just the ZIPped up README and dedicated server documentation, which does indeed refer to SETUP.EXE. The real patch ZIP file weighs in at 32.5MB. empire 0 Posted November 27, 2001 Yeah I cant install 1.3 properly! Some files are always corrupted or defect (dunno another word). I repeated the download 4 times from different servers. Always the same probs: The installation started and always the same files are corupted. So i havnt the laser marker ingame (I can choose the device but the soldier has nothing in his hands....) the new A-10 has no bombs (I can choose them but theres nothing....) and the multiplayer mode always crashes while initializing. Most of the other points (single player missions, new rifles and vehicles etc.) are ok... I already had 1.1 and 1.2 and now Ive a buggy 1.3....(european version, win98SE) PLZ HELP!!! Whats wrong? Dragon213 0 Posted November 27, 2001 Yeah, I got the right one Mr Frag, its the 32 meg. The patch does not have a .exe after it tho and there is no setup.exe which is stated in the installation. Just trys to launch the game. Looks like the need a patch for a patch. I am moving on to Ghost Recon and putting this buggy game in the drawer. I suggest doing the same... Don't tell me you don't have a program that can open up ZIP files. The .EXE you are looking for is inside the ZIP file, trust me. I just downloaded the patch again from the page I provided to make sure its not corrupt, and the file is fine, and the patcher is there.
Vile 0 Posted November 27, 2001 no, i wont be more specific... just uninstall any tools u have to copy or create CDs
Dragon213 0 Posted November 27, 2001 The patch is a zip file, once unzipped there is the Op Flash 1_30, a read me file, a MS Word readme for server hosting, and another one. I click on the patch and it trys to start the game. The 1.20 patch didn't do that and Avon, I don't get beta's so 1.20 is as far as I got. Link me to where you got yours Mr. Frag and I will try to download it again. 56k doh...
Vile 0 Posted November 27, 2001 dragon, u have the right patch, and it's doing what it should... except finishing...... if u'll notice... that's the same problem everyone else in this thread has. Remove all cd burning software from your computer, reboot, and try it again.
Dragon213 0 Posted November 28, 2001 Hmm, I got Clone CD, CDRWIN, and Easy CD Creator. Why would these affect installation of a patch? Weird.. I dunno if I want to uninstall them but will give it a shot. Did it work for you Vile?

KillorLive 0 Posted December 12, 2001 Ugh. BIS's lack of posts here that the general community has no solution to has never ceased to baffle me. The only solutions you get in the nitty gritty is, "Format C:/U". I'd rather buy an I-Mac than ask for support from HERE again. Thank God I've made another partition for XP and OFP, that way I can save all my "important" crap from a format. From OFP I've formatted atleast 5 times directly from OFP problems. Ironically since it's buggy the community calls me a dips**t for it being my system, it isn't the system at all half the time. It's usually human ignorance, or genuinely the game. For me it's been human ignorance one, game 4. Hopefully though now I can actually help people here instead of ask for help, as I was so woefully let down from the community there. Amdasus 0 Posted January 20, 2002 I bought the US version, 1.2, and I downloaded the upgrade patch. I noticed that there were three options: download the Ultimate Upgrade 3 (32Mb), download the pure patch (12Mb or 20Mb), or download the vehicles (whichever the pure patch isn't 12/20). I downloaded the pure first (56k running slow). I unzipped it with a really old unzipper (it came with Duke Nukem 3D). I double-clicked the .exe file. Nothing happened. I downloaded the others, did the same and nothing happened either. Whenever I open the patch, my hard drive light goes on, but then stops and nothing happens. I have Win98SE, Asus A7M 266 (AMD 761 chipset, VIA PCIset), 1.4 Athlon AMD, a 16x burner, cloneCD installed. Please help me out.
Stupid-Git 0 Posted January 20, 2002 I have the same problem. I recently bought the Gold Edition of Flashpoint, and I just CAN'T upgrade to 1.42. I'll double click the patch, and the OpFlashpoint logo comes up, and it reads the CD. Then, a dialogue box comes up which says "Please insert the correct CD ROM". I don't have a CD-RW, and thefore, I don't have any CD burning utillities. I have a completely clean install of WindowsME. The thing is, Operation Flashpoint can read my CD PERFECTLY, so why can't the patch? I've tried reinstalling Flashpoint, and it didn't work. I'm getting pretty frustrated. I'm not willing to reformat my drive, OR borrow another CD-Rom drive. I've tried reinstalling the default WinME APSI layer, and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?
