theavonlady 2 Posted February 25, 2002 On the BIS resistance site, it says that the new island size is over 100 square kilometers. I take it that means larger than 10x10 km. and not 100x100, correct? If so, in this interview with Viktor Bocan, Viktor says "The new island is larger than the old ones". Aren't the old ones 12.8x12.8 km? Finally, could BIS issue a small picture/sillouhette of the new island map and let us know what real island this is being based on?
Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted February 25, 2002 I never measured an island, but i thought that the biggest was 12.8 * 7.something. It is the island from the top when you edit a level. The island with the castle ruins near a village called Saint Pierre. I think it was Everon. Oh, what am i talking about.... i never measured an island so i shouldn't guess... i just wanted to post something.

Die Alive 0 Posted February 25, 2002 I would like to see open spaces in the middle of forests, like big enough to land a chopper or two. And maybe a really big forest, one that's 3km by 5km, with some roads in them with forest starting up against the road. -=Die Alive=-
kegetys 2 Posted February 25, 2002 I did some "measurements" on everon... The island itself (not including the small islands around it, or the sea of course) covers 35 of those 1280x1280m squares in the map, of which some of them very minimally (like 10% of it). 1280x1280m makes about 57 square kilometers, so the new island will be about 2x the size of Everon. ralphwiggum 6 Posted February 25, 2002 hhmm....never came to my mind that Everon could be such size. So i guess the island will be bigger than ones we have, but what about sea? any rivers? bridges?
azalin 0 Posted February 25, 2002 Hmm if each of the larger squares equal 1.280 m and there's 10 * 10 of those squares it all sums up to a maximum mapsize of 163.84 sq. km. So this prob. just means that a smaller area of the map will be covered by sea/water. Would be cool though if they increased the maximum maparea... Just my 2 cents...... Or maybe 2 main islands close to each other with a river in between
SpaceAlex 0 Posted February 25, 2002 We'll see. The graphic of that new island will be better. Other islands will remain the same. What can i do now? One island, nicer than the others.
Guest Posted February 25, 2002 ooooh, rivers and bridges. Those elements on a map would usher in all kinds of combat engineer units. It'd be nice to have a bridge to fight over.

ExtracTioN 0 Posted February 25, 2002 There is someone in OFPEC forums with screenshots he has added a river to malden map his name is romanb he says he will release the tool so we can make different islands with rivers. The OFPEC forum is now closed as soon as it opens I will give you guys the url so you can see it with your eyes. My question is now for BIS how is he able to do that in the landscape he added a river how is this possible?
Damage Inc 0 Posted February 25, 2002 I want a river.
madmike 0 Posted February 25, 2002 what romanb did was lower the terain until he got to sea level and that made it look like a lake, It was impressive though even if the lake was a bit too square
