Yoma's Arma Addon Synchroniser

Recommended Posts

**New Version**

-Added setting where you can choose what the extension should be of a downloading file (.zip or .tmp)

WHEN SELECTING .tmp ALL ZIP FILES ON SERVER SHOULD BE

RENAMED to .zip

YOU COULD OF COURSE TEST IT FIRST BY RENAMING ONLY 1 FILE

Please test asap so we can eventually make a switch to .tmp if this solves the problem.

could you please make a tick box like the Teamspeak for TrackIR? So I can have my TrackIR launch at the same time.

Would that be TrackIR.exe you wanna start? Or something else? Does it need any parameters?

Lazy bastards rofl.gif next you'll ask for something that can autodrive you from town to town ;-)

**New Version**

-Added Track IR autolaunch support. For now it just launches TrackIR.exe, i don't have one so i don't know if that's the right exe too launch. Anyway, you can set the exe to launch in settings tab.

-Gimme a sign if it's some other exe i need to launch.

Quote[/b] ]There only is one big problem: it would require a full rename of all files on all servers that are using my app to .tmp instead of .zip :-)

Huh!?

While the file is downloading, can you name it 'modname.pbo.part' and continually write to it like normal... until the download is complete, then the program renames the file back to .pbo

This is what Firefox does, I believe.

Thanks for the great app.

Server admins, give your addon server URL's to Yoma so he can add them in!

Hmm, with the new version there are no default servers at all. Server admins, are you willing to paste your info here so we can enter it in? If we get enough perhaps we can make it the default in the program.

This tool is great for downloading missions from servers, even if you just play them locally coop. Missions are small so I don't think I'm 'leeching' too much.

Thank you for this tool.

Another idea, this is totally optional mind you..

I used to use armalauncher for everything. I have 3 computers here that we play coop's on, and keeping them all synchronized to my computer is a pain. The problem with arma launcher is that it uses the registry to store what mod folders you have, and if you export those keys and import them on the other machines it gets super confused and corrupts the list. So when I sync some new mod folders to the other computers, I have to have the guys manually enter in each folder etc.. I'd rather make it easy for them by just importing the settings but it doesn't work. (this isn't your problem)

It would be great if all tools (including yours) just have INI or CFG files like the old days, that could be hand edited if needed. A program that doesn't need an installer is the best. It can be copied anywhere with its INI file and it's good to go. Alot of the old OFP tools were like this. I think this would help you with vista compatibility too. Did you know you can't write anything to program files without a UAC prompt? Vista is such a pain.

Just an idea.

There are default servers in it!

Just remove your previous installation and run the setup from scratch.

That said it would be real cool if we had like hundreds of servers. Anyone that wants his server in the list just gimme a sign and i'll see to it that it's added.

Trust me, with vista the clickonce installer causes a lot less problems then manually putting files somewhere.

That said i don't think you really have to use the installer. If you can't find out how not to use it, then you're better off using one in the first place.  wink_o.gif

It would also greatly increase the time between patch/ applied patch by user.

I don't think i'll dump the clickonce deployment.

Yes, sorry after I ran your auto update then I indeed had the latest version and it had servers in it. (the normal 2)

Thanks

Prehaps if enough interest is generated from server admins, a serverlist.txt could be stored on your web page and your app could fetch it to populate more servers later.

This tool is great people, please start using it and share your servers! yay.gif

**New Version**

-Most probably a fix for "Kaspersky" bug (files are kept locked untill they are completely downloaded, preventing AV from interrupting download)

Please test ASAP as many things have changed in the download class.

Just one little thing,is it possible to make the application start of the addons in the way listed in "modfolders.txt", that way you could set priority of addons started in the way you set up your "modfolders.txt"

I tested it last night and it looks like it starts all the addons sorted by alphabet.

This is the way I would like it to start:

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">@Spect;@FDF_Sounds;@ArmAEffects;@GL2plus;@ExtendedEventHandlers;@NWD_Ballistics........

This is the way it starts the addons:

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">@ArmAEffects;@ExtendedEventHandlers;@FDF_Sounds;@GL2plus;@GMJ_SightAdjustmen........

Is it possible or is it too much work for you?

I'm replacing my "ArmA Launcher" from now on. This is a much better tool for my needs. Thank you so far Yoma!!

This is a request that's on my to do list, but it's not very simple.

You can try to achieve it by simply changing the modfoleder names you use.E.g. 1@Spect 2@FDF_Sounds etc etc.

I know this may cause some problems with addons that require a certain path. I'll fix the ordering some day, so you'll be able to choose the exact order in which to launch

just saw a mentition of Vista compatability probs but no explanation.

Does it involve "The path is not of legal form"

or

"Access to the path 'C:\YomaArmaMod.log' is denied. in ErrorClass"

Thats what I'm getting with Vista 64. Still seems to start.

Also wondering if if there was a way to put personal Mod folders in the start up list.

I like to have my client based sound mods, lowplants etc seperate from the BIS folders.

I'll change the path for the logfile to the data directory as well... Damn bloody Vista, it's hard to test this if you don't have it. Especially when people confirm that it works fine.

Can someone donate me a legal Vista copy? wink_o.gif

For the second question: a simple answer: no.

The reason for this is that it would render synchronising a lot lot lot more difficult.

Now i keep stuff simple: put ur damn mods under armadir.

Else you introduce problems like: Hey this path does NOT exist and it try syncing to it!

So i'm quite sorry, but people will have to live with that.

I might one day introduce something like 'add modfolder' where you can manually browse to one and keep that one out of the sync process. Anyway, nothing keeps you from using another armalauncher, and using mine just for synching.

Ok.

It certainly is still a fantastic little tool. Thanks!
