sputnik monroe 102 Posted November 1, 2007 I just got ARMA and I am going insane. I'm on a night mission where you have to blow some tanks up. The problem is the enemy AI can see me from miles away even though they do not have night vision goggles, they end up shooting me one shot one kill from incredible distances and they should be stark blind it's so dark. So I was wondering, is there a config.bin type replacement that adds some dispersion to the over accurate AI's gun fire? Also is there a fix that makes the AI not see as well at night if they don't have NV goggles? I don't understand to be honest, never had problems like this in OFP, the AI couldn't see as well at night and never was this accurate. Also no one say "use the search function" I already did and it just made my migraine worse, I didn't find anything related to what I searched for. The only other thing I can think of is perhaps my game isn't patched to the newest version? I downloaded a 1.08 patch but I'm not sure if it's the newest patch or not, it still seems pretty buggy. Is there a higher patch out already than 1.08 that prehaps fixes these problems?

Zadoff1880 0 Posted November 2, 2007 Happens ALL the time! AI firefights are a strange thing - in RL it's very hard to fight in a city, but relatively easy to fight in a forest (at least for us - country folks ), but in ArmA any cityfight with AI soldiers is a piece of cake, and a forest fight, or a gun battle at night out in the open is a player's nightmare... Reminds me of the very first RainbowSix game - if the enemy sees you - you r dead, no matter what. The only solution is to use long-range weapons with optics (which you don't get as a SF operative during that mission), or lower AI skills considerably & write something mean at the "ArmA is just dissap." thread One suggestion - do not play the BIS campaign. I don't like BIS missions... Make ur own missions, play MP games, but NOT the campaign - it's dull & booooring & full of such "moments of insanity" as the one you have described above
.kju 3245 Posted November 2, 2007 Reduce enemy skill in the difficulty dialog. or tweak the settings yourself in the YourUserName.ArmAprofile file: Quote[/b] ] skillFriendly=0.850000; skillEnemy=0.850000; precisionFriendly=0.850000; precisionEnemy=0.850000;
sputnik monroe 102 Posted November 3, 2007 Thanks Q I'll try that out as well but first a few questions. skillx= I figure I know what this does. It just handles their skill same as the difficulty options custom sliders. So it is possible then to lower their skill even lower than 0? How does the AI act with the settings that low? prescisionx= <-- does that effect their accuracy with rifles?
