After Action Review

Recommended Posts

Since the days of Virtua Fighter and Virtua Driver, I've longed for an AAR for a military-sim. Many times, especially in large COC type battles, i have no idea how my comrades are living or dying and what tactics their using. For the SP, it would be great to able to sit back, and watch from all angles how the battle unfolded and you could save all of those "OMG, How the hell did I survive that?!?" moments and share it with others. For MP, would be a useful tool for old-head clannies to watch and train new recruits.

One important note would be a way to NOT show enemies that were never spotted and I hope that becomes a feature for commander view as well.

I would love AAR.

Why not? As long as you can only see it after the mission then it may as well show everything. It would be nice to see what the enemies were doing all along.

Would also be great for MP, so admins can check if anyone was using cheats like wallhacks. Very useful for competitions.

Well you may want to watch after you were killed and that would give the enemy's exact position away if neither you or your allies spotted him. Maybe a full replay if you've completed the mission and only a partial if you died. Maybe get creative with the partial replay such as a blurred effect of some kind to represent a lower knowsabout level or the like.

This is a pretty good idea. I don't see any problem with watching the enemy single player, but I could understand not being able to see them in a multiplayer fight so that you can't watch how they manuver.

I was hoping this feature might be in ArmA. A post-game/mission viewer would be particularly good for PvP leagues but I imagine it would also be of great interest to co-op players as well.

Instead of AAR (wich i wouldnt really prioritise) i would rather have a built in SPECTATING system.

It would complement and help mission editing, debugging, etc.

It would be perfect for no respawn missions (coop or adversarial).

It makes sense? (otherwise kegetys wouldnt have done it...)

I agree , a replay/aar/whatever name you see fit/... would be a great feature for the game.

I remember enjoying a lot the first Ghost recon replays of those coop competition, like ones from the Alpha squad coop tournaments, it was always very interesting to watch.

And even spectating again my own attempts at completing missions alone with various mods were always good fun.

A feature that i am really hoping to see in ArmA2.
