Is there going to be a "proper" vista fix?

Recommended Posts

Sorry, topic should say " is there going to be a proper fix

Been away from ArmA for a few months as i wasnt happy with performance on my old pc.

I now have 8800gts 320 mb, c2d e6750, 2gb ddr2 and vista 32.

After starting up ArmA yesterday and loving how it looked and ran then getting the " ArmA has stopped working " poop, i searched these forums for the so called hot fixes, installed them and ArmA ran great for an hour last night.

Tried again today and its crashing after a few mins all the time.

Yes i know vista is not recomended os for ArmA, but is anyone working on making it compatible with ArmA?

Should i just bin ArmA and wait for ArmA 2.

Btw im using 163.69 drivers, the latest vista 32 i believe?

If you haven't tried using the -maxmem=512 parameter added to the arma.exe shortcut, then I would suggest first starting that.

Is it really nececairy to open just another Vista thread though? I mean there are a lot out there where your question would fit right in.

I feel your pain, I have same issue I had it to a playable state but restored back to factory an could'nt rem what i did, but as Sickboy state the-maxmem 512 o how ever it goes solved some of probs I also have the latest drivers, an I also still get the crashes. I know theres a better fix in here but cant rem an to lazy to go thru allllllll the threads to find the fix.

I have not tried the maxmem thing no,i thought that was for 512mb + on a graphics card? I'll give it a try.

Yes there are a lot of vista threads, but there are also a lot of vista users needing a fix, and having to search through pages and pages just seems stupid to me, there should be a sticky on the front page with fixes and comming fixes as more and more users are switching to vista.

Its not very good PR if new customers buy ArmA then have to search for hours to get it working.

Then it should be stickied on front page imo
