Winters1807 0 Posted October 10, 2007 Me and my buddies like to play arma on our self hosted servers, but it seems that i cannot join any server that is hosted by a player and is non dedicated, i can see the server on the browser, but no ping is shown, only "?". And when i try o join it says "Connecting Failed" I have no idea why this is happening, yet other people can join the servers aswell, any ideas?
jasono 0 Posted October 10, 2007 Can other people connect to them? It maybe that the ports needed for ArmA arnt open. It seems that outbound is open (it can tell gamespy, which then tells you that the servers up) but not allowing inbound. I think its TCP and UDP on 2302 thats needed to be unblocked. Devastador 0 Posted October 14, 2007 I also am having the same problem, this could be any configuration of the server by default?
ArMoGaDoN 0 Posted October 16, 2007 Have tried to troubleshoot this issue for others too. Mine can connect fine, as can other m8s, but some get the same '?' in ping and cannot connect through at all. Have tested all their ports on their PC (even disabled their firewall and depended on router instead, plus have checked all the ports etc. in router - they should be open fine according to the config read back to me. Could it be the case that some ISP are blocking access for those ports? If folks could post the type of router they use, perhaps this might show up something, or the ISP concerned might be worth noting here to as this may identify some commonality between the problem cases? Devastador 0 Posted October 16, 2007 The most unusual thing is that the problem of connection I have with 1 or 2 servers and the rest did not. Thanks anyway [WWS]WarWolf !
nubbin77 0 Posted November 15, 2007 I have this problem too. Except my brother can connect to me, but when the mission is supposed to download to him, he never receives the file. (downloading mission 0 of 80KB.) I can connect to him no problem though. I have my ports open (I think - I set this in the router) and no firewall up. I have a buffalo router. When I had a linksys I just set the router to the DMZ - this router doesn't have an option like that. Also, he can't connect on ventrillo either (even though I have those ports open). rstratton 0 Posted November 19, 2007 same problem for me. it seems that if you are behind a router u cant connect to a non dedicated server
binkster 0 Posted November 21, 2007 Router has to be configed for this. You have to set some properties For example if somoene is hosting game should set the DMZ to there address. I would also disable any security and just rely on software firewall. Port Range forwarding try putting the port you use and your ip address for example open port 2302 on 192.168.1.100 and open both tcp udp. Solved my problems...
