Gunsights

Recommended Posts

When using a rifle like the M16, I've found it's usually good to go into the 'iron-sights' view to reduce the random wobbling of the targeting. However, do you aim so that your traget is just above the top of the line or so that it is covered by it? I can't seem to tell exactly where the impact point is. I have this problem in real life too, makes CCF ranges a bit difficult confused.gif

That was what I thought, but then often that results in impacts well above the target, particularly when using a machine-gun or anything on full automatic. Perhaps the aimpoint changes depending on the fire mode?

A couple of things:

1. MG's have more recoil than other guns, causing more aim inaccuracy.

2. All aiming will be more accurate when firing from a crouched position and even more so when prone.

3. Take into account bullet drop for very distant targets and above target impact for very close ones.

4. If you're wounded, especially in the hands, your aim will be even less steady than usual.

5. If you hold down the ALT button while in iron site or scope view, your aim position will be perfectly frozen. That's a little cheat for you.

Yes it does, recoil. I remember someone saying that with the early M16's the first shot was on target, the second just above the head, any more than that, and it became an Anti-Aircraft gun biggrin.gif

On MG´s use your bullets trails to correct your aim. If you can see them of course.

On assault rifles I position my sight entirely on target and fire few single shots. More accurate than burst or full auto.

G36 and steyer are different story...

The XMS seems to have very little recoil, even with full auto on. I love that weapon smile.gif

Yep, if you are firing a 5 round burst at someone 100m + away, aim at or slightly below their feet.

Are you sure?? Whenever I am prone and am aiming through the sights with an M60, I always fire in spurts and put the top line of my sights "ON" my target, not below. It works for me.

Generally then I just spurt once or twice and the enemy is dead.
