Brendan.K 0 Posted August 25, 2007 Since ARMA1, I was very much disappointed with the fact that there are almost no civilians in the missions, every place is a ghost town, no cars on the roads, hell, no cars even parked. Even in real life war zones in cities, there are at least parked cars and some civilians taking cover. While we were supposed to be saving the country, what are we saving? Certainly not the people, since the whole country lacked people. In the upcoming ARMA2, lets at least see some pedestrian traffic on roads and on foot. What would you like regarding this issue? Ryujin 0 Posted August 25, 2007 none of the youtube vids are official. The first seems homemade. The second is from a NATO op (I was there , 4thIB).
alext223 0 Posted August 25, 2007 To Ryujin: You were there!!!!!??? Right...... Anyways, mate, if you want a living AI city on any game, go and working the field of computer science, and be part of the solution and not part of the whining masses. I buy what I can get and wait for the improvements to come in the next fiscal quarter. I can't make such dreams become reality, so I wait. I suggest you do too. You might loose your sanity in the process. Have a nice day Alext223

Ryujin 0 Posted August 26, 2007 I was there, thats a report of a coop game.... I'm with the 4th Infantry Brigade mentioned in the vid. Was a lot of fun actually. To get back on track, I think a civilian presence could be in arma 2, they talked a lot about a dynamic world for the campaign.
mrj-fin 0 Posted August 26, 2007 I think it is easy to make civilian filled towns even in OFP whit some advanced scripting noreless in ArmA like GTA-style when u move in some area there are specific scrpit that just trigger by some variants and when u go town there will spawn civilians and when u move out of it they will removed from game. So there will be present civilians life in 1000 m radius of player current position. Everything out of engine limitation is possible to do by scripts. Yeah, those were well done, the second one was really good actually. Unfortunately the quality of the actual news reports in the original ArmA was not as good. I think couple of parked cars here and there would make some difference already. But I think the streets in Sahrani towns are actually too narrow for parkin. Game 2 was supposed to have civilians in it, and the player was supposed to be able to interiagate them about near by enemy etc. I'm not sure if that's still in.
