Twiggy159 0 Posted August 1, 2007 I have a Core 2 Duo 2.66GHZ and I was wondering how much I could over clock it. With stock over clocking and cooling, the temp is about 158 F. The Alert Temp is 228 F. about how much could I over clock my processor?
froggyluv 2136 Posted August 1, 2007 Core duo's overclock very well but much of that has to do with: -motherboard - quality of ram -bios version -power supply - cooling system learning to overclock you chip without raising the vcore level too high is the key to keeping your temps down. this can be a difficult endeveour depending on your pc prowess. Best bet is to google a good overclocking site, absorb as much info as you can before you try and use their forum. These guys helped me get my duo 6400 2.4 ghz to a stable 3.2 ghz. this should probably be in offtopic/pc discussions thread.
Money 0 Posted August 1, 2007 Ya, agreed with froggy. Also no two CPU chips are the same. So they all have slightly different thresholds of how much heat they can cope with.
