Barely-injured 0 Posted August 10, 2007 In OFP i loved the original JAM V.1.0 sounds and I find the FDF ones kind of close to those sounds, loud and threatening. I didnt try ArmA Realism Soundpack or VF RealSoundPatch though. They are not very famous as the others so it would be nice if some one posts videos featuring those two mods
mr burns 132 Posted August 19, 2007 Theres also a soundpack that uses the OFP Dynamic Range Sounds .. we did´nt publish it though due to doubts in legality because it´s only available as a repack of the original ArmA weapons/ or sound.pbo
dr_chris 10 Posted August 20, 2007 I like Chammy's because as stated, the firefights sound amazing. Most mods, you can't hear a rifle firing from a few hundred metres away. In this pack, you can be having a firefight between two opposing forces (say in treelines 200-300m apart) and still hear the distant crack of the weapon. I agree that the first person sound is far too weak for the weapons though, needs a bit of punch. The best weapon sounds I've heard so far are the ones from Scaven's pack with the M249 and FN-FAL. -duke- 0 Posted August 20, 2007 I had to null my vote because the only sound mod I've tried is the FDF SoundPack. I must admit that I really like the sound of it so far. I just dl'd chammy's sound mod and hope to give that a try over the next day or so. I have an 00ber desert battle with armor, helo's and all kinds of infantry so I'm hoping it provides good enough feedback over which mod (if any) is more immersive. BTW, to all mod makers, you all do a terrific job and should be proud of your product regardless of who comes out with the top vote. The fact that you put so much time and effort into making this already good game, great, deserves all of our collective appreciation.
junior_g 0 Posted August 30, 2007 Hi there, Yeah duke, I definitely agree, thanks to all the modders. Keep up the great work, this community depends on you. For the mods I just wanted to say that there is many situations in which all the weapons featured in ArmA sound different, depending on terrain, background noise, and other factors like distance of course. I also wish that modders would definitely say that they got their sounds from real life recordings just so that people knew if they are going for the reality aspect or just the ear candy. That would be my request. Don't just say your sounds are realistic and what not, just state that they are from real life recordings. Then us players know that that is what that weapon could sound like in real life in a certain situation.
