Particles just flying away

Recommended Posts

Weight: ?

Volume: ?

I was trying to figure out why the particles are just flying away but couldnt find any formula behind all that.

What is the reason for that behaviour? Even tho I set Weight & Volume to 0 there is still strange stuff going on (i expsected the physics to suspend then).

How can ban physics from particles?

I am not sure what you mean by "flying away", if they are bursting away or whether its the wind who is responsible?

In case they are influenced by the wind, i think you could prevent it by changing the Rubbing parameter (probably to 0)

...but i give no warranty, it's just an idea.

Nah it's not the wind. I think it's based upon the gravity. So i espect it to literally do nothing when weight is set to 0. but unfortunally it seems to calculate some density-ratio from weight/volume and applys physics to it. just try it. they go striahgt upwards

It's based on very finely set values. For example, I have some smoke settings that have

Weight = 10

Volume = 7.9

and the smoke rises like smoke should. However if I change the volume by just tiny bit to 7.8, the smoke initially rises then sinks back down. If I set it to 7.88 the smoke rises, then kind of levels out a 200 feet or so. It's a matter of finding the exact values you require.

Rubbing is the value that is affected by wind, if Rubbing is set to 0 then no wind interaction.

You didnt get my question right. I want to know how get the particle not effected by physics.

As far as I know all particles are affected by physics. You can balance the particle's settings to not be moved around by physics, but you need to find that balance. I usually start with a smoke setting & change from there.

All particles are effected by physics. Think of them as gasses. If weight is set to 1.275 and volume to 1, the particle will neither sink or float.

You may want to give the manual for my particle parameter utility a read through. It describes all the parameters in depth.
