volkov956 0 Posted August 9, 2007 my XFI Elite had issues Sound would be weird and sometimes Driver Crash and or Loud Screech. Fixed it by getting a Vista Driver then extracting it and running a manual install on Windows XP/2003
D007 0 Posted August 15, 2007 Got a new tid bit for yas that took me an entire day of researching to figure out.. a very simple fix for you x-fi users crashing or not being able to start arma with x-fi... reinstall arma.. make sure u do if "after" you install x-fi.. if you install x-fi, then arma, be ready for it to crash if your using the same specs as I am.. xp sp2 32 bit. 8800 gts 320 680i sli mobo e6400 oc'd to 3.2 ghz. 2x 1gb a-data ddr2 800 ram 2 WD caviar hd's @ 400 gb in raid 0 x-fi sound extreme. I went through several reinstalls trying to narrow this down to an individual component but it came down to one simple solution.. make sure you do not install x-fi after arma is installed.. make sure you install x-fi.. then arma.. if you already installed arma and are going to install x-fi then you may very well need to reinstall arma again afterwards.. worked for me.. running like a charm now with 6.1 surround.. arma never sounded so good.. I even dropped one 8800 card to use the sound card now. Step up program, here I come..lol..

Maddmatt 1 Posted August 19, 2007 If anyone is having audio problems try one of these in the start up parameter-openal -dsound I dunno what one is default. OpenAL is the default. But I haven't seen any information that ArmA supports DirectSound ("-dsound") at all Not sure those parameters will do anything.

I used -dsound and the audio tracks in game had weird blip noises in them. Default openal was fine for me.
