My advice is just to make your map like you would in SP but then make some more player slots by setting units to playbel, and if you have questions do the following.

-Go to the wiki http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Main_Page and do a search.

-Go to these forums and do a search dont forget to set the search from tab to the beginning or this year.

-Do another search

-Still noting ask it here someone will probally know the awnser

That works well if you don't use any scripts or functions... i.e. completely editor made missions.

In MP things get rather tricky with client/server relationships. Broadcasting of variables, knowing that only the server should create units/vehicles, knowing that you have to execute certain scripts &/or commands on each client, etc. etc. the list goes on.

I haven't found any comprehensive guide to all these intricacies yet, but there are some good guides on ofpec.com and the wiki.

Search the wiki? Yeah. That's always useful. Next you'll be suggesting search these here forums...

Oh....

I rarely have any joy searching either the biki or the forums. The Ikon search function is so bad is next to pointless and the biki is not nearly comprehensive enough (yet) to make searching it a worthwhile exercise.
