VerySolidSnake 0 Posted February 16, 2002 I'm going to install redhat 7.2 on my machine cauz i'm just so tired of windows 98se crashing all the time. Does OFP run on redhat? Is there something special i have to do to make it run on it? Or are there windows emulators that i can use to run OFP?
kegetys 2 Posted February 16, 2002 No, it will not run. If you want a stable OS for gaming, install Windows 2000.
bangcraher 0 Posted February 16, 2002 Or install windows XP (I find it much better and it works pretty good with ofp).
Paddy 0 Posted February 16, 2002 You could try WINE, its a windows emulator for linux. Half-Life runs pretty well on it, 40 - 50 fps if you tweak it enough, dunno about OFP, worth a try i guess, but dont expect multiplayer to work.
kegetys 2 Posted February 16, 2002 No, OFP wont run with WINE, Half-Life uses OpenGL for 3d acceleration, OFP uses Direct3D so no hope on trying to get it working with it (at least yet). As for Windows XP, IMHO its total crap, just Windows 2000 with that (ugly) new UI (which also makes it eat much more ram) and then the CD-R burning stuff and product activation. Offers nothing useful that Windows 2000 doesnt have.

Paddy 0 Posted February 17, 2002 well if you've got a 3dfx card you could try glide, or a glide wrapper. There was some glide drivers floating around a while back for linux.
