ForceRecon 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Anyone haveing a problem using Ventrilo and ArmA? Ventrilo works perfect with every game i have played, but am noticing sound problems using it with ArmA. I will be talking ingame on Vent with a buddy, when all of a sudden, when he tries to talk it is all squeeky and jumbled. Sometimes I can hear him talking plain as day. I have never had this problem before ArmA. Works fine when I'm not in the game, and in any other game I play. Anyone have any Ideas?

Skip_Moniker 0 Posted June 7, 2007 Ventrilo was so bad for me it was unusable in ArmA. Tried many different settings -- nothing helped. Then I started running it on a 2nd PC (not on the game PC). That's the only thing that worked for me.

Its Version 2.3.0 Maybe you have a high cpu load and ventrilo is haning or something.. Try to use DIRECT SOUND in the first page of the setup... or try to change the priority of ventrilo.exe in the task manager.
Skip_Moniker 0 Posted June 9, 2007 I heard of one other solution to this, but I haven't tried it. In your system audio volume sliders, go to the 'recording' section and mute everything except MIC. If you don't have mute just move the sliders all the way down, except for MIC.
ForceRecon 0 Posted June 9, 2007 I am using ver 2.3.0, and direct sound is checked. Vent priority on task manager is high also. It does sound like a high cpu priority issue. I think it is a problem on my buddies end tho. Vent works great for awhile, then all I hear when my buddy talks is this squeaky sound when he keys up and talks. Then it might go back to working for a little while before I get the squeaky stuff. He says he hears me fine tho. The thing is, we have never had this problem with any other game. OFP used to work fine with it. Teamspeak seems to work fine with it also, but isn't as clear sounding as vent. Vent also seems to work fine if neither of us are in the game(arma) I didn't try the mute all but mic advice yet. As it is, on my sound card control panel, I had to mute mic to get voice to work. Dunno why, but I always had to have it muted to work properly. Who knows, maybe either his card, or mine is going tits up Thanks for the help anyway all. eJay 1 Posted June 9, 2007 Server which I use works perfectly in ArmA. I didn't notice any problems. Quality is better than TS.
