dmarkwick 261 Posted May 28, 2007 Any coder out there fancy converting the excellent blood effects addon from ECP over to ArmA? I can supply just that one addon in case you don't want to download the whole mod, along with the relevant names for credits etc. I always found those effects to me more than just very cool, they were actually useful as well. As the image below shows you can get a rough direction of fire by looking at blood spurts, and I've also hunted down wounded enemy using their blood droplets as they bleed while running. Often times I've happened on a battle scene and the blood around the soldiers told their own story Useful blood indications:
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted May 28, 2007 Ew, why use crappy OFP effects when ArmA is capable of much better ones?
dmarkwick 261 Posted May 29, 2007 Ew, why use crappy OFP effects when ArmA is capable of much better ones? 'Cos I happen to think it's actually a good effect. If those red splots are images then as a graphic designer I can do better for sure, I just can't do the code conversion.
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted May 29, 2007 Well it's just a hit eventhandler and createVehicle...
dmarkwick 261 Posted May 29, 2007 Care to elaborate/explain/demonstrate? If I can get a handle on how to hook the addon's scripts into ArmA I might be able to fudge through them correcting for code differences between OFP & ArmA, but I really have no idea on how to use an eventhandler. I can do enough scripting to get limited stuff to happen in a mission but coding is slightly beyond me at this stage. I can learn though.
sickboy 13 Posted May 30, 2007 If i'm not mistaken, I received the permission for converting CRDS from OFP to ArmA weeks if not months ago, when I got some time spare I'll run through CRDS and implement such system into ArmA. CRDS Info: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=10190 Though I agree that the best would be to use/convert to ArmA functions & features as much as possible though such research will take longer. What I need is a basic tutorial on this topic, using eventhandlers for ArmA etc. If one exists I'm sure it'd be enough to get the ball rolling for me. reserved for edit
