Fatigue

Recommended Posts

Ok Sniperdoc. As you wish. First off you got to pardon my grammar and my some sort of childish way to write - i'am not a native speaker but I try the best I can do when it comes to express myself... Unless you don't try to speak german to me without doing any mistakes you better leave me with the way I talk icon_rolleyes.gif

Next: You say the avatars in the game start to breathe like asthmatics. Even though they dont carry at least half the amount of what a "soldier like you" formerly had to carry.

Well you are right. But did you ever recognize they do run faster than you do with your bagpack? Did you every recognize most of the missions do not have the setting of a march with heavy load but rather are based on some "taskforce"-idea?

Mate you can believe me I know what I am talking about just as you seem to do whistle.gif If you want the character to carry heavy amounts of stuff then you have to realize that you cannot demand any kind of missions where the caracter is NOT loaded with so many goods.

And regarding the setting/the idea of the whole scenario: Will you rather have all the missions playing with a big backpack where you can hardly sprint or will you rather have the missions playing with a smaller task-backpack with which you can sprint and walk just like you want?!

So, Mr. Rambo. Load yourself with the little amount the characters are loaded with and pass an island of the size of sara within the time the caracter would manage - and after all tell me you didnt become short of breath rofl.gifrofl.gif

Alright... back to english cause it's a bit easier for me nowadays...

Basically, I don't understand how you're not seeing the issue here. The characters MAY be running faster, as is expected... but since they're NOT LOADED DOWN, they SHOULD be running faster... just makes logical sense to me. What doesn't make sense is that they just can't seem to run longer than 30 seconds without sounding like their heart is popping out of their chest... period! And it's the same with duckwalking... I mean, the guy starts breathing heavy on the first step?!!?! Come on...?!

And to say that I should wear what they're wearing in the game and run across the island is a complete non-sensical statement... we're talking REAL LIFE vs GAME MECHANICS. Your stating that a guy SHOULD be able to run across an island at full blast? I may just not be understanding your counterpoint...? You can tell it to me in German and I'll understand it and make a counter argument... ok?

I mean, It's like the characters haven't ran their PFTs (Physical Fitness Test) since they joined up... or ran anywhere for that matter... The characters sound like Fatty McGee coming up the stairs... (do a search on google and you'll get it). The avatars in the game, just sound like they're unexercised, non-trained, physically non-fit individuals, when that should not be the case.

Anyways,

Tschüss!!!

I wonder if there would be the same amount of discussion if the sounds associated with the signs of fatigue was less of a stand-out. I like the balance in the game. They can make a loaded and unloaded performance differncial like they can with helicopters, trucks, etc, but I think that that's pretty much useless detail. I like the way the game mechanics work. It's spartan but it's highly functional.

You're also arguing as if sprinting is the first thing that the soldier did when he woke up in the morning. Maybe the soldiers on sahrani are really tired? These are arguments one can make against the claim that the soldier getting tired in unrealistic, but that's only valid if two criteria are met:

That you can prove what it's like in reality using metrics

and

If BIS primary concern with this feature is simulating the human body under ideal conditions to a T.

I don't think the latter is true. I think that a lot of the game mechanics were tailored with an eye on the way the gameplay unfolds. It would perhaps be better to argue from that standpoint.

[akzeptables Deutsch... aber dass du ein besseres Deutsch sprichst, als ich Englisch - das wage ich zu bezweifeln]

Back to simple, sniperdoc - I think we all wanna finish this with some sort of conclusion, don't we, mate?

You say:

-The avatars get short of breath too easily regarding the amount they are loaded with. Furhtermore the avatars should be able to run way faster than they currently do.

I say:

-In fact, the opposite is the case: The avatars can run cross the whole island and are - after all - slightly out of breath but not anything more.

I agree: The "sound of breathing" that you hear letting your man field comes up a little too early. The duckwalking meanwhile never made me experience any kind of sound. Dunno what you hear there but the only thing I may observe is the sound cause by my avatars feet scuffing the ground. Ok thats all. Here are the facts:

*The amount the caracters are weighted with is realistic and fits the scenario in this case

*The abilities to sprint and to run are far too overdrawn. No human beeing will ever manage to run this far without taking a break

*The speed with which the avatar runs/sprints respectivly is all right regarding the amount he is ballasted with

*The moment astmatic breathing begins tormenting the man comes way too early

*Duckwalking never had an impact on breathing as far as i can tell.

PS: How could you have served the states army while in actual fact you were german citizen?
