Kubicide 0 Posted May 25, 2007 BIS - is there a way to change the FOV back to the same as 1.04 and 1.05? I'm running a triple-head 3840x1024 setup and in 1.07 (don't have 1.06) the weapon view and cockpit changed quite a bit and now looks really silly!!! It's really, really stupid looking. Out of perspective, distorted and irritating. Have to re-learn how to fly as well since objects are way closer than they appear. Please tell me there is some sort of config switch that we can change! Or can you please add the option to use the pre-1.07 view?
sickboy 13 Posted May 25, 2007 It's a bug when you have reset or not reset controls or something... I remember reading it was caused by not having track-ir (doesnt matter if you have or not have it) bound to the zoom in/zoom out functions... There must be a thread around where it was mentioned, try search.
frederf 0 Posted May 25, 2007 If you have a free slider on a joystick you could bind it to "TrackItIR zoom in/out" I wish that the Num_+ and Num_- keys would always stay where you left the zoom. The M1A1 gunner optic is like this way but not the standard infantry zoom. Please let Num_+ and Num_- "set and forget" our zoom level inside the range! We already have another control that does "spring zoom."
Kubicide 0 Posted May 25, 2007 Thanks for the feedback. I did search without any luck but will try again. Also see others commenting on the "new" FOV change in 1.07. Do either of you have a triple-head or using 12:3 aspect ratio?
suma 8 Posted May 25, 2007 Make sure you have the default mapping (TrackIR Z axis) mapped on Zoom In/Out in the controls setting, even if you have no TrackIR. That should fix the issue for you.
Kubicide 0 Posted May 26, 2007 Thanks for the replies. Yep, it was the TrackIR setting that caused the issue. I incorrectly assumed it was this patch since I didn't have any trouble after the 1.05 upgrade, and also saw folks posting about the FOV change in 1.07. (Mod: you can probably move this to "troubleshooting". Thanks!
Rynthas 0 Posted June 16, 2007 Well, mine's buggered. I do have trackIR, but Z axis is disabled in the profile I use. Enabling it doesn't help. Without the TrackIR controls for zoom in my ArmA config, I'm stuck in max zoomed out mode. With the controls in my config, I'm stuck zoomed in.
sakura_chan 9 Posted June 16, 2007 you can manually change the perspective in your *.Armaprofile file. there are two lines: fovTop=0.562500; - height fovLeft=0.900000; - width These lines define the viewable area. the bigger the area, the more zoomed out it is. If you want to zoom in, reduce the numbers by the same percentage, I used -20% of the default 16:10 setting for my 1650x1050 monitor. It gets rid of the fish eye distortion stuff and makes far objects more identifiable. It can also help with fine tuning, because my monitor is actually a 1.57 ratio but 16:10 is 1.6 ratio. When you start up Arma, under the video settings the aspect ratio will show as 'custom'. example: Original fov 16:10 Custom fov (exact same location): If you are only having problems with the fov in certain units, a mod could be made to change the unit/unit class' view, so it is fixable any way you look at it.
