Hugely dissapointed

Recommended Posts

Hi - I got this game with a massive expectation of huge improvements over the amazing original 2001 (!wink_o.gif game. I ignored the bugs of the original and had a great time playing the games for hours and hours.

This new game has been a massive flop for me. I have an improved pc (AMD 2800 2.02ghz, 6600GT and 1.5gb ram) and hoped I would be up to spec on this game. I found the unpatched version to be buggy, odd to play and with poor audio. The game felt like the original just with some improved textures. Soldiers fail to obey orders, just doing commands seems to be impossible. Handling of the vehicles feels terrible compared to the original.

Then came the inevitable huge patch. Which made the game worse! Textures now have virtually dissapeared! The sounds are just the original from 2001! All I can see is a mish-mash of hi definition trees and a few walls and then suddenly a pile of textureless vehicles, people and weapons. I thought 6 years would have been good enough guys to improve the original game but it feels like its gone backwards!!

I cannot fully describe how dissapointed I am with the game and frustrated with it to the point of want to uninstall it! I wish I had never forked out the money for it in the first place. With games like this, no wonder people buy consoles! Come on guys, it was Flashpoint that set the trend for massive playable areas, huge add ons, unlimited new missions and vehicles. I think I'll dig out the original.

What version are you using? A friend of mine has a similar computer, and the game runs quite well for him.

lol heard that sort of comment so many times now. This game seems extremely random, people keep posting how they fixed the 8800 issues by changing HDR setting etc but none of this helps for me even the old beta patch crashes.

Hello elfranko,

I don't know what you guys are all bitching about, in the past years I've played so many games, and they all have there ups and downs, some more then others do.

I call them weekend games, because I'll play them maybe one time on the weekend and thats it, and will end up coming back to play ArmA MP.

Now, having played ArmA on a AMD 3200, ATI 9800 PRO and 2GBs of ram, i can feel your pain, was playing at 1024x768 on very low (but it was playable) for many hours of fun.

How are you "disappointed"? that you are not getting 70+ fps on a computer that looks to be a good 3 years old? or that you cant max the setting out like in BF2? or many games you play?

I have played ArmA on both low end and high end computers, and the end of the day, all i cared about was they we're all very playable.

Thanks,

Adam
