Big Dawg KS 6 Posted May 11, 2007 The problem is that there are no real grenade physics. Hand grenades are coded more like cannon shells/40mm grenades, and the bouncing is just a high angle of deflection. It works for bullets and shells, but doesn't do the hand grenades justice. Luckily we have scripts, so you can expect things to change. Right now I'm working on my grenade pack for ArmA, hopefully soon I'll have a satisfying method to better simulate them. Commando84 0 Posted May 11, 2007 yeah grenades feel very different but i never tossed grenades for real so.. but i think it adds to the randomness of arma with bouncing grenades
OblivionX 0 Posted May 12, 2007 How do one aim with the grenade? The reticle looks like this : O I What does the circle stands for and the line? I usually just goes with my gut feeling and hurl the grenade away. Then I see the "dust cloud" were it lands. Then it bounces away in a random direction and explodes. Throwing grenades into doorways/windows usually = "You are dead" screen, as the grenade bounces on the door/window frame back at me. Commando84: I have tossed live grenades when I did my military training at a practice range. But I never stayed out of cover to actually see how it bounced. Would have blown my face away or at least I would have some gravel to pick out of my face.
KJAM 0 Posted May 12, 2007 Yeah the bouncing usually negates any kind of throwing accuracy with the grenades, except for the EOI ones. What is also annoying is the fact that AI have a tendancy of landing the grenades (even the bouncing ones) right at your feet
NoRailgunner 0 Posted May 12, 2007 this "bouncing" should be fixed asap. but not with an Quote[/b] ]"hold down for more range" with a visual meter on screen like 99% ...of unreal & stupid action-shooter
ryankaplan 1 Posted May 12, 2007 Quote[/b] ]"hold down for more range" with a visual meter on screen like 99%" i dont see what is wrong with this method. Just because its in CS doesnt mean its a bad thing. In fact it gives you much more control over your throw. Its pretty shitty at the moment that you cant roll a grenade, or you miss a huge window from 5 meters away half the time.

I'm planning on implimenting different ranges for throwing grenades in my grenade pack, but don't expect visuals, this is a war sim not an arcade game. Teru Mikami 0 Posted June 2, 2007 Hi guys. I noticed something strange about the M67 grenade : when you throw one over an urban area like streets, the grenade bounces a little and then goes under the ground, resulting in the explosion doing little to no dammage. I searched on this forum and on the bug tracker site but didn't find anything about it. No one else experienced that ?
castun 0 Posted June 14, 2007 The AI has no problems throwing grenades so they plop right at my feet and blowing up with little bouncing. When I throw them however, even when I accurately judge the angle, it just causes the grenade to bounce off in a random direction and completely miss. The same holds true with launcher grenades. They should blow up on impact, period. The triggering mechanism is sensitive enough to blow up on any type of terrain or object once it flies far enough to activate. Heck, half the time they just dud and don't explode at all. Maybe because they keep bouncing across the world like a super ball. During the firing range training I literally got court martialed for shooting a GL grenade and it either bounced all the way back behind me to hit one of the range cadre or bounced over the end of the firing range and hit someone or some friendly vehicle beyond which could not be seen. Commando84 0 Posted June 14, 2007 i love it about grenades that that sometimes i can actually run away from them, but that is of course if i see a.i doing his throw grenade anim with hos arm and then i start running forward but i still get hit by shrapnel in my back would be cool if shrapnel injures could be visible on soldiers, damn that has to be painful
frederf 0 Posted June 14, 2007 If you throw the M67 in a high arc (>45 degrees) it will "stick" on landing instead of bouncing.
Whargod 0 Posted June 14, 2007 As I recall, grenades from the M203 don't arm for 60 feet, does that hold true for ArmA? I can't try it right now, my PC died...
dab_burns 0 Posted June 14, 2007 no it doesnt hold true ur dead if u pop a round at ur feet.
