shadow 6 Posted February 12, 2002 This is getting tiresome. The planes can only take off on the airstrip. This is okay by me for the SU25 and A10, but not for the civilian plane. These planes can (in real life) land and take off on grass too. They could in OFP 1.0 and 1.2 , but not anymore. I think they started making sharp turns when you fixed the turning radius of the support-trucks. Please fix this, BIS.
Intruder 0 Posted February 12, 2002 On bumpy terrain, the cessna all of sudden swings round on the ground at speed, and you start sliding sidewards and take damage, yeah, but I can take off from flat terrain okay. I've even taken off from the desert Island, cos theres plenty of flat area.
shadow 6 Posted February 12, 2002 Yeah, that's I've noticed. When you reach speeds around 35-50km/h the plane starts turning, sliding and taking damage. Would be nice to be able to land on a suitable green field and take off again If this is fixed we could even make a C-130 (*when oxigen arrives) to carry an APC or whatever. Land. Drop off the APC and take off again. I'm just playing around with ideas
Intruder 0 Posted February 12, 2002 Actually a lot of people are working on C-130 models, I thinks its the most wanted addon. I'll just be hapy with that VBS harrier, Takeoff and land where ever you want
shadow 6 Posted February 12, 2002 Now that you mention it. I wonder hos they are going to solve the take-off and landing procedures on a carrier (if it is possible for planes on carriers at all). How would the winch and hook work? hmmm....
Intruder 0 Posted February 12, 2002 There are a couple of hook and winch scripts available already, so that shouldn't be much of a problem. As for the planes landing on carriers, it seems BIS have alredy figured that one out: It could be for show, or it could be a static object like the Islands themselves. WKK Gimbal 0 Posted February 13, 2002 I gotta agree it would be sweet. Having to take-off from airports only, kinda limits the possibility of having secret Resistance airstrips on the map. You know, those marked with fireplaces and then quickly removed after the plane has taken off.
Paynemaker 0 Posted February 13, 2002 LOL! Realism eh - if OFP was realistic you wouldnt be able to shoot a tank while on the move. It would have to stop before firing - this was the case in 1985. It was only the british tanks which had the technology to fire while moving... Civilian planes are able to take off on most roads so just use that - it is more realistic that way anyhow. shadow 6 Posted February 14, 2002 But if my memory serves me right the Leo 1 A2 back in the 80's was the first tank that got implemented computer guidance to actually make this tactic usefull. If I remember correctly the german tanks during WWII firing on the move had about 50/50 chance of hitting a static target. The Leopard1A2 was the first to fire on the move and a hit a moving target with 85% hitrate up to 5 km's. But today all tanks have been improved, but the Leo2 stand undefeated in that area... sidenote: Heared from a friend who was a Leo-driver in the army over here that the Leo's can drive on practically anything as fuel (just as long as it burns and oils the machinery)

amos m 0 Posted February 16, 2002 I thought that you could add objects like roads etc. through the mission editor. Does this not include airstrips? Also, how much room is there on an island for airstrips is there anyway. It would be cool if bis could dream up a way of moving between islands mid mission without actually ending the misison and starting a new one. That would be more realistic. They should have doubled up the Desert Island or something.
