HogRoot 0 Posted April 25, 2007 I am fairly new to ArmA, so excuse me for my ignorance... I was recently in a multiplayer game and tried to get in a helo and it said that I needed to be a Major in order to operate the vehicle...my question is how do you gain rank? Is it done by the host or is it like BF2 where you actually go up in rank? Any help would be appreciated.
Daniel 0 Posted April 25, 2007 That system of ranking is generally unique to the user made mission EVOLUTION. On that particular mission, you need to gain points by completing missions, scoring kills, and not dying too often. That way you gain rank. In most other missions, and by default, nothing stops any player from boarding an empty helicopter.
killswitch 19 Posted April 25, 2007 Putting rank limitations on vehicles is a mission feature. Were you joining a game of the popular coop mission named "Evolution"? I believe it has a system to limit the whirlybirds to higher ranks. Read the mission briefing to learn how to gain rank by completing sub-missions in Evolution. (In any case, if it wasn't that particular mission, the procedure of gaining rank is mission-specific and not "done by the host" or "like BF2".)

icebreakr 3159 Posted April 26, 2007 We're using feature that enables only pilot class to enter the driver seat of a chopper. Otherwise it puts you out and tells you that you don't know how to fly
