RockIslandMarine 0 Posted April 23, 2007 every time i load a tex (tga or Gif) i get this message What do i do?Look
mr. Duck 0 Posted April 24, 2007 As far as I know, if you try to load a texture that is either not .paa or .jpeg (just the standard load texture, not load background), you'll be in trouble.
Sennacherib 0 Posted April 24, 2007 in fact you can import a model with TGA textures, the pal2pac stuff is a converter TGA to paa or pac. your textures have maybe not the good size: 128,256,512,1024 etc or maybe your tga is not a 32 bit tga.
Macser_old 0 Posted April 24, 2007 I'd go with the sizing. As Dante says. 16x16,32x32,64x64 etc,are valid sizes,up to about 2048. Or any combination of those. 16x32,32x64 and so on. To put it simply,if you can divide the lower value into the higher value, and get an even number, you're ok. For example. 1024/512 = 2 is good.512/96 = 5.3333 not good. 24bit tga should be fine if the image has no alpha channel(transparency). But 32bit is required if it does. If your source image is something other than a paa/pac,O2 will try to convert it.If it doesn't see the right dimensions, you get an error.Even if the image can be opened in Texview. Try to stay away from Jpegs. They don't support mip mapping or compression. If you use enough of them and they're big,you could be adding more work for your PC.Even if they may look slightly better ingame and have a small file size. PaaTool is a much better tga to paa/pac convertor than Texview imo.The resulting image is comparable to Jpg,with the benefit of mip maps and compression. If you decide to use it,all tga's must be 32bit. Whether they have alpha channels or not. If it's not a size related problem, then try a search in the O2 modelling forum. You'll likely find much more info on these types of errors in there, than you will here. To the best of my knowledge my information is accurate, but if it isn't,I'm sure I'll be corrected. Anyway, hope that helps.
RockIslandMarine 0 Posted April 24, 2007 one prob. i have Corel Paint Shop pro x and you cant do any thing with it you know any options i will be vary happy
Macser_old 0 Posted April 24, 2007 Well, can it create 32bit tgas? And are you still getting that error?
RockIslandMarine 0 Posted April 24, 2007 Dont think so and yes
Macser_old 0 Posted April 24, 2007 Well, you could try a trial version of something like Jasc paint shop pro. Or if you want a freeware program, try something like Gimp,or Project Dogwaffle. You can find them here I don't know much about Gimp, but Dogwaffle can definately write 32bit tgas. Btw,if that program of yours can write 24bit images, make sure they're uncompressed. Sennacherib 0 Posted April 24, 2007 dogwaffle don't have the layer stuff
Macser_old 0 Posted April 24, 2007 Hello D@nte, It might get him started, until he finds something more suitable. And it's "slighty" more user friendly than the Gimp."Slightly".Besides,he may not need to use layers. Although, that'd be ideal of course.
RockIslandMarine 0 Posted April 24, 2007 im going with gimp. how do I size?
Sennacherib 0 Posted April 24, 2007 that depends on what you will texture: example: a tank hull: 1024x1024 would be a good choice. a little part of the tank, you can use 512x512, 256x256 or 128x128. the quality of the final work depends of course of the size of the textures. btw: try to not use 2048x2048

RockIslandMarine 0 Posted June 10, 2007 nothing is working HELP
Macser_old 0 Posted June 10, 2007 Hello again, No offence Rock, but you need to give us some more info than;"Nothing is working". You still getting the same error? And you should request this topic be moved to one of the O2 forums.O2 troubleshooting I'd say.Ye might get more help there. Anyway, judging from the earlier posts,it doesn't seem to be related to image size,or the .DLLs that were mentioned. So,have you verified the paths to your dll folder/Buldozer.exe? Are you positive they are correct? Re-check them in O2.Go to file -> Options. Macser.
