frederf 0 Posted April 19, 2007 I've noticed that sometimes the Harrier landing gear gets stuck in the down position with no action menu option to "raise gear" when flying. Is this a bug or is it possible to damage the landing gear from say a hard landing in the down position such that raising it is not (and designed not to be) raiseable? Staos 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Bug, this was in OFP too.
jakerod 254 Posted April 19, 2007 I normally go with feature. Suppose its a matter of opinion maybe though, atleast at this point.
Mogley 0 Posted April 19, 2007 I believe its a feature. Only has happened to me after a hard landing. But what I dont understand is that repairing still does not fix it even though it fixes everything else on the jet.
Universel 0 Posted April 19, 2007 This is not a bug. You just have damaged your landing gear. The bug is that it could not be repaired, as in OFP
smellyjelly 0 Posted April 19, 2007 At first I thought it was a bug, but now I'm pretty sure it's a feature. I think BIS should make another model showing the damaged landing gear though.
frederf 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Well that's certainly a shame. It might be nice if the option to raise was still there but didn't do anything but instead made a 'broken' type grind noise or maybe had a hint to let you now the gear was broken. Real aircraft have fault lights that let you know when something's amiss. Again a shame that the gear isn't fixable but thankfully gear stuck down is not a showstopper as you can fly all day with the gear dangling.
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted April 19, 2007 This was a sort of half-assed feature from OFP, where if you damaged the landing gear it'd get stuck in a half-up/half-down position.
Universel 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Yea, in OFP the consequences were much more dramatic. The half retracted damaged gear made take-offs and landings much more difficult.
Op4 BuhBye 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Well Id say Its a feature with a bug. You also shouldn't be able to do over 300knts with gear down with out dammage occuring to the plane.
Mogley 0 Posted April 19, 2007 I have noticed the max speed does seem less with the gear down which is realistic. I once did try to fly as fast as I could with an undamaged gear to see if it would damage it as Op4 BuhBye correctly stated should happen when flying to fast with it down. I then tryed to retract it and it worked so it seems the only way to damage it is a hard landing.
