Animal-22 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Oh god oh god oh god! Testing! Â Â Â Please let me know how this turns out. I have the same issues as you.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted April 17, 2007 No LOD issues, yet. Copped a "system texture" CTD though. Continuing.
Animal-22 0 Posted April 17, 2007 No LOD issues, yet.Copped a "system texture" CTD though. Continuing. Are you testing in the Beta 1.05 or the US Demo? I think we might get close to getting this solved with the combination of the US Demo and the new nVidia drivers.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted April 17, 2007 I don't have the US Demo. Good news but, still no LOD issues. Added -maxmem=512 to 1.5 command line, no further CTDs yet. Still going. If you have the US Demo, give it a crack. Hopefully these are what we've been after.

Also, I suppose I need to start using the maxmem parameter in my full version.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted April 17, 2007 Just tentatively - this may be what we needed in Vista-land. I'm still getting a very small amount of residual Playdough, but it seems to be contained to soldier models, and only when wandering around Paraiso. Ran Battlefields with everything maxed (yes, 16xAF/8xAA, 10km viewdistance) and averaged about 40FPS since Bagango isn't too congested. Looks wonderful. I'm going to keep testing in the morning. Good night, yáll. Here's a quick Battlefields pic I took: Battlefields - Maxed Out *** WARNING *** I get instant Playdoughification if I change HDRPrecision in the ArmA config to anything other than 8. So don't touch it.
-SWAF-Lunatic 0 Posted April 17, 2007 i have not seen any playdough since using these drivers, i have however seen the DXT5 crash, lowerin all settings seems to have cured it.....will add more when i find which setting if fubaring my game.

Animal-22 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Cameron, just to let you know what I have found... With the current production version (non-beta patch), I can put everything on high (not very high) and the issue is MUCH better. I can go quite 20+ min. without having LOD issues. Then, when I get them they start very small and get a little worse over the next 20-30 min. Then, it finally gets out of hand. Occasionally, I get the memory surface CTD error in the latter stages of LOD issues. Also, in multiplayer, things get a little choppy occasionally. In the US Demo, I can run everything maxed out and it runs just fine. No choppiness and no LOD issues at the 30 minute mark. I haven't been able to test it further yet. I have to admit, I haven't pushed the US Demo as hard as I have the full production version, however, I tend to believe at this point that the US Demo in combination with the new NVIDIA drivers makes a platform that can be considered stable at acceptable quality settings. At the very least, it's a promising step in the right direction. NOTES; This was all done with a 4GB pagefile. Also, the maxmem parameter makes thing MUCH worse for me. CameronMcDonald 146 Posted April 18, 2007 Thanks for the feedback, Animal. Have a go running ArmA with -maxmem=1024 rather than 512. My verdict: a godsend. Not one crash to date, and the very very very minor LOD'ing I get is only around Paraiso, and sorts itself out a la XP style. Nice to see NVidia pulling their finger out for BIS. I'm glad I can finally play ArmA the way my computer is designed to - freakin' well.
frostybits 0 Posted April 18, 2007 Cameron and animal thanks for the insights, I too can rejoice in these new drivers. Im not going to move from 104 until 106 comes out but the video preformance is significant, gone from 1200 to 2500 (could go higher but dont see the point yet) in view distance and up to high on texture detail, it runs better than before.
