CameronMcDonald 146 Posted April 16, 2007 If you're a Vista-ite, Matt, get used to it. Welcome to the party. It's either an 8800 or a Vista problem... or both, or one or the other. Either way, it's the highest cause of CameronMcDonald-related frustration in the world today, and I have Vista and an 8800. If you're using XP, try -maxmem=512 in the command line. Otherwise, hope BIS do something about it before the next patch, or hope someone releases a decent 8800 driver soon. God I'm bitter.

LoFFeN 0 Posted April 16, 2007 Have you placed the RAM to run as Dualchannel-Mode? A Funkyjunky RAM setup can lead to many errors etc. Btw: How many RAM chips do you have? I'm guessing 2x1024 & 2x512 = 3GB.

Unless i have to activate something in my system ?2x1024 & 1x1024 = 3GB. I think the problem is the "third" RAM Chip. Because you can only run two or four RAM Chips in Dualchannel-Mode. Not three. My tip is: Take out the "third" RAM Chip and see If anything is changeing. My guess it will change. -------------- Info about Dualchannel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_channel EDIT: Hey Matt, can you post a link that contains a picture and some info about your Motherboard. LoFFeN 0 Posted April 16, 2007 Nice card. ------------- But to get Dualchannel working correctly, you must place your two Chips like this: Place 1 Chip in the First Yellow slot and the other Chip in the First Red Slot. PS: Do this very carefully though. Remember to unplug the Main Powercord, that is plug into your Powersupply. RAM Chips are very sensitive too Static Electricity. mattxr 9 Posted April 16, 2007 You sure? It says in my mannuel: To Enable Dual Channel mode with two memory modules you must install them into DIMM Sockets of the same colour. Then it gives me a cool table showing how it works. Edit: but i took the 3rd chip out. and seeing how things go without it.
LoFFeN 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Yeah you are probably right. Because your MB hasen't a space between the four slots, like many other MB's have. Anyway hope it works better now. ----------- EDIT: Btw, whitch RAM Brand do you have?
troop 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Matt; please read pg. 7 and 8 here (read all, if time). http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....16;st=0 Your solution (for now) is therein.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted April 17, 2007 I've already suggested the -maxmem fix. OK Matt, here's the juice: Either: 1) Run your ArmA with -maxmem=512 in the command line. 2) Disable your pagefile and see what happens. 3) Set your pagefile at 4GB (I did this and haven't had a crash since) and see what happens. 4) Drop your settings, and titrate up until you find something stable (running on high or very high texture detail can cause death). 5) Weep, and help me by submitting the bug at the link in my sig. 3 or 4 times, if you didn't mind, hehehe.
