will there be ever vista support?

Recommended Posts

i bought the game cause i thought for a new game it would work under vista.

by now a big list of games released in the last 4 months of 2006 works on vista, like Gothic3, company of heroes etc....

big surprise Arma dont, tried it under xp sp2 compability etc, after a few sec the game shut down and i am back at desk top.

i just wanna know if there will be vista support soon otherwise i better can bring the game back to the shop, cause they would refund me if it didnt work.

the game looks so great i would prefer it works soon then bring it back to the shop, but not gonna waste 40 euro.

speccs are;

asus 5pw dh deluxe

intel core 2 duo e6600

asus 8800gtx 768mb

2048ddr2

vista home premium 64bit

beire;..if you cant get ArmA to work stable right now on your current setup

(despite *all* tips given here and elsewhere), and you do have the chance

still to get an refund from your shop, I would advice that you do so now.

(Or do an dual boot XP solution for less; -not none- hassle)

-

Since there is still no official word by the Devs about future/ever

Vista support (that I know of) it would be the sensible choice.

You can later (and be it in 2-4 weeks from now) always pick it

up again; and even at an reduced price maybe.

The decision is all yours at this time. Many gamers decide against Vista still

because of an heap of driver/else problems. Many games

*could* run(even good), but as long as there is no official logo on the box,

you are on your own(as with ArmA). Unfortunally.

It appears the 64 bit versions of vista are generally more trouble.

There a tons of games that wont work on vista. Just do a Xp dual boot. Over the next 6-12 months most of them well start to work a MS and nvidia ATI etc fine tune drivers and Vista.

You can spend a week messing with vista to get ARMA to run or other games or just dual boot Xp as a saftey net for the next few months.

This thread should get you started... It links to the "Windows Vista Finally Released (Drivers too)" thread aswell, were you should find drivers, directX and other stuff that you need!

ArmA ran fine on Vista64 for me until patch 1.05, then I got issues and decided to run under XP32 for the time being.

I think 1.05+ will do better, aswell as more updated drivers.

My friend has Vista Home Premium (32) and plays ArmA fine, if not better performance than me (and I have slightly better hardware).
