heli do not use weapons

i don't know is that topic should be here or in troubleshooting ?

i found that AI helicopters do not use weapons (except guided AT missles liek Hellfire)

they don use guns, they don't use zuni launchers , ffar launchers

do you observed the same ?

i made one mission in which there should be air support, but air support haven't fired even one time !

i looked at the config, i don't know why it happens like this

I really cannot believe you just found this bug recently! Maybe you spend to much time in creating addon.;)

I wrote almost same post about one week ago.

I wish it could be fixed in the next version.

by the way, I think this topic will be closed very soon, because there are lot of topic discuss this issue.

and they will say "you should use Search function, before post a new topic."   MUHAHAHAHA biggrin_o.gif  tounge2.gif

yea

i was making addons, not playing

when i finished addon i started make missions, and than i found it :/

i hope to fix it by my configs, but looking at BIS configs - i see nothing that can be wrong

i will be experimenting with configs to find how to make heli use zuni and guns

I really dont understand why but I dont get this bug at all.

The only thing I have changed is the weapons.pbo and that was only to remove all the tracers for all weapons.

What I did was setup an OPFOR squad moving in a square then have an AH1Z fly overhead. He spotted them then did a circle and came back firing Rockets and guns.

Hi all

This problem does not exist in ArmA. I do not even remember it existing in OFP.

I just tested to make absolutly sure. On Rahmadi I set me in AH1 as pilot at one end of the runway and an OPFOR squad at the end of the runway.

The only thing I can think you are doing is not remembering to press the [F] (default for change weapon) to select the MG.

As soon as I make the AI aware of them he starts picking them off.

Use target to make AI aware of targets you can see but they have not. Fly close enough and your gunner will spot them any way.

Also set attitude of gunner engage with [F2] [3],[5] to engage at will and problem solved. They will shoot any soldiers they see.

If you have rockets as chosen weapon and you line up they will use those too. Tested and proved on my vanila ArmA install.

PS April fools day is not for another 3 days wink_o.gif

i think they mean a chopper that has both AI pilot and gunner wont open fire. This is certainly my experience so far, never seen AI helos do squat except fly in nice pretty circles...

I've certainly seen an AI (pilot & gunner) cobra fire missiles in a mission I made without me doing anything special to cause it. They were on a search & destroy waypoint & set to engage & open fire at will (i think). Can't say I've seen them firing the gun but maybe they didn't need to?...

HI all,

   I should say it clearly. This bug just happen to the AI chopper except Cobra(AH1)!

   you can try to build a mission, just create a AI AH6(or MI17 with rocket), squad of enemy infantry (or a enemy car)that cannot move. then put the waypoint of AH6 on enemy position set the property as "destroy"or "seek and destory".

   preview it!!

you will found that Ah6 just fly around the enemy without firing!!

at last, mention it again. AI AH1 is OK, it can do its job very well!!

It isnot a April fools day issue! using the words of moderator, "using the search, you will found a lot of post discuss this bug!"

i was clearly writing: "except guided"

AH1 fires guided Hellfire, Ka50 fires its Vikhr rockets

but they don't use unguided 57mm, 80mm, FFAR rockets !

people - read more carefully before answer !

or maybe you don't know what is guided and ungided rocket ?

AH6, MI17 don't fire  at all

edit: i know where BIS made mistake , now i made my own config an heli shoots smile_o.gif

This issue exists and it has been brought up several times before. BIS has fixed something. Fixes are supposed to come out with batch 1.06.

The even strager bug is that blue infantry won't fire at flying oppfor helos, but oppfor infantry fires at blufor helos like there is no tomorrow. You can easily test this too with mission editor. To this I don't know if any fixes are found up to this date.

BIS made one mistake which i found smile_o.gif

now my Mi17, AH6, UH60 fire at groun targets

Another annoyance is that SLA troops will fire 12.7mm MGs at UH60 but not at AH1 Cobra???

Cobra can hover right over them and the 12.7 gunner just stands there..... try the same thing in a Blackhawk and you are a flying collander!

Great! Although BIS is going to update helicopters with their next patch. Now just if someone finds out how infantry acts differently.

Basic logic would go that they are mostly similar in game terms (infantry is just infantry) except for weapons, equipment etc.

NSV or Browning or other machineguns won't fire to AH1, KA50 because BIS gave crewvulnerable =0 parameter

so you cannot kill pilot, you must kill whole chopper !

probably there is not proxy of pilot in fire geometry of Ka50 and AH1

this is a matter of config and maybe model

Ka50 is flying tank - i know this, but AH-1 probably is not

so i could understand this parameter to the Ka50, but AH1 has big windows, the glass is not so thick in Cobra as in Hokum, so Cobra should have this paramter =1

and this is lower probalam than RPG, AT soldiers use their launchers on man !!!

soemtimes my "team" is out of RPG rockets when they meet M113, because they used all on other man :/

BIS must solve AI soldiers firing RPG, AT4 to other soldiers !

and they could solve problem from OFP , Stinger, Striela are not used against tanks !

i've always had the feeling that this has something to do with target priorities (although maybe vilas' config change will prove different). Anyone tested unguided rockets when there is a tank AND infantry? Will the chopper attack the tank, it being a priority over infantry?

there is no new config , i am not changing BIS configs, because it can make problems to other addonmakers (as someone made addon that caused my addons errors)

i made those chopers in my mod and air pack, it is addon not just config
