Major @ April 24 2007,22:24)]Awwww, ive just read this forum because for ages i was wondering how to get sqaud xmls. Now that ive finally discovered how bloody complicated and so like ArmA it is (hardly eva works, and is different for different people) im a bit dissapointed, i reckon ther should have been a easy "create xml" page which u could have in game.

Actually it's not at all complicated.

Step 1: Create your Squad.xml or edit someone else's.

Step 2: Upload it to a web server and write down / copy the link to it.

Step 3: Put the link to the xml in your player profile.

It really isn't too difficult.

1. Yes it works on any server.

2. You host it on webspace not the gameserver.

My XML is how it should look when accessed on net.

here's anouther thing. i found when looking at sly's xml that he sent me that whatever editor he used for editing the xml (i suspect dreamweaver) had added alot of junk to the file, so make sure it's clean and exactly as expected.

as before, if you have trouble with it, msg me and ill give you my email to send it to.

if you have the text working, it must not like the (or find) the image.

check the case, as it's case sensitive, and check the image (paa) opens correctly in textview. sometimes the convertion is naff and it wont reopen in texview, nor work in game.

Hello,

my zip file lives HERE.

Looking at it and at other files, i can see few if no differences.

At the header though, some xmls have ! instead of ? in the brackets.

Odd, ta for the offer of help.

what permissions do the files have on your webserver ? (im assuming its a linux server cos, well, if it isnt its poo!wink_o.gif

i'll take a gander at the zip now and go upload it to our site

edit: ok i got your logo working for my id in game (found a little bug in the last zip you posted)

setting your profile to http://www.team-mofo.com/unit2k/squad.xml should make it work for you. The xml has your in game name down as "OrLoK", which im guessing is case sensitive.

i'll mail you the zip in case you want to upload it elsewhere.

i had the same problem with the game not recognizing the xml, what i did was make a whole new directory with the correct info and needed files in it so instead of

www.dedicatedamericansex.com/squad/squad.xml

its

www.dedicatedamericansex.com/squad.xml

the problem is something to do with the changing of the image in your xml, so for w/e reason changing the directory your xml is at should do the trick

ive had it working with sub directorys and the root directory. its very picky though. the xml is case sensitive on the logo name, for instance.

I get the same problem. Uploaded all of the right infos but it only shows the member-block info not the squad info.

sqdxml.gif

http://lohikaarme.org/4IB/squadxml/1SQD/squad.xml

http://lohikaarme.org/4IB/squadxml/2SQD/squad.xml

http://lohikaarme.org/4IB/squadxml/PHQ/squad.xml

I have a logo.paa but don't know if it works. Honestly that's something I can only worry about once I get the other info working.

Why is my squad block info not showing up?

EDIT: Errr nevermind. Whatever I did it shows up now. I think the nick field for the member block has to match the nick you're currently using?

Hello

Seems identical problem.

I've also tried without using a paa, and get same error/bug.

Also, tried linking to an xml on another server (which works for the hoster) but not for me.

very odd indeed.

PS "Hey, He's just this guy, you know?"

yes, nick part of the xml has to match your in game name exactly. on the one you posted i see you had [4IB]Fred --> and in game your [4IB]_Fred-->

orloc, check xml nick field (before the xml modifys it) (it'll add the team bit to the end of your name) is EXACTLY the same as your in game name.

i know the rest of your xml is fine because it worked for me with my ingame name and ID.
