(FPC) Bacon 0 Posted April 3, 2008 Have you ever experienced, how loud it is is if someone is crawling around in a silent night?I doubt that, else you would know that a person that`s crawling around is far from being noiseless. I don't think my EARS are 5.1 surround sound unless i've got 2 around the back and 1 on top of me head that i haven't found so i wouldn't know that and it all depends on what the crawling over. And what soundcard and headphone setup youv'e got.
Maddmatt 1 Posted April 3, 2008 by the way Madmatt, 5.1 isn't just panning the volume its also using latency between the speakers, thats why you have to configure the distance to your speakers to get good convincing surround sound. Yes, but in games it doesn't seem to work so well. It only simulates sound coming from the speaker positions. At least that what it sounds like to me. But then when you drop to 4.1 the X-Fi allows you to activate CMSS 3D which gives much more realistic positional sound. It's weird that CMSS 3D doesn't work for 5.1. Disabling 1 speaker seems to be worth the better 3D sound. It's been a long time since I had the 5.1 system connected to my PC that I experimented with though. CMSS 3D with stereo headphones seems to give very accurate surround sound in games, just make sure EAX is on. You only have 2 ears, no need for so many speakers if the soundcard can simulate things properly
