Big Dawg KS 6 Posted March 17, 2007 Not just Shilkas, all vehicles. It's hard to explain why it's like this but it's a must. The vehicle always inherets everything from the crew member in command (it's side, etc...). Long story short there's nothing you can do about it without screwing up a working system. peterj 0 Posted March 17, 2007 what if there's no commander?
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted March 17, 2007 what if there's no commander? Then the gunner is the commanding unit (unless the vehicle has the config property driveriscommander = true, in which case the driver is the commanding unit, in the case of helicopters and stuff). Basically, when a bunch of units crew a vehicle, that vehicle is considered as a single unit that is equivilent to the unit who is in command of the vehicle. fasad 1 Posted March 17, 2007 Kills (and side ID) go to commander, then gunner, then driver, then cargo (if that's possible). edit: corrected order
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted March 17, 2007 Kills (and side ID) go to commander, then driver, then gunner, then cargo (if that's possible). I don't think they changed the order in ArmA, it should be commander, gunner, then driver. If there's no commander in a tank, the gunner is in command. If there's no gunner or commander it's the driver.
fasad 1 Posted March 17, 2007 True, you are correct. my mistake : ( Having tested this in MP, ownership of vehicles does follow the order listed above (in real-time). However, in a MP game, I've been the driver of a t72, then another player gets in as gunner who shoots a friendly chopper with ~10 ppl on board. Kills were given to me (driver). Memorable 'cause of the abuse i got. I can't figure out how that happened.
Dwarden 1125 Posted March 17, 2007 well i guess this game is not about score on scoreboard ... when i was in tank, i was driver and commander and another guy was gunner ... even i got most of kills while i was in commander view marking enemies or trashing troopers around ... it was teamwork ... second way how resolve this could be simply give points to all vehicle crew ... ThePredator 0 Posted March 17, 2007 How to disable scoring? Or the scoreboard? This is something I'd like to add into my mod project.

In OFP, if you switch from commander to driver or gunner the game records that you were commander and you keep being one. This is broken only if another player or AI enters the vehicle as commander, so if the guy entered only as gunner you still were the true commander of the tank. OrLoK 20 Posted March 17, 2007 i too have noticed this phenominon, but on exiting vehicle i recieved correct number of kills (i seem to remember). slight swerve away from topic..... I also would love to see the end of the scoreboard as it is. IMHO it encourages Ramboism and detracts from teamwork. Ok keep it for DM or other modes, but in a coop situation get rid. My two pence.
