Old ATI Cat 6.7 wicked

Recommended Posts

First I would like to thanc BIS for some excellent work in patching to 1.5 (so far so good).

I know there are still issues but confident of future fixes.

I would like to say the handle leak on the Latest ATI drivers forced me to try an earlier driver and control centre.

I tried 6.7 and low and behold fps improvements and stabillity regarding the fps.

My system specs

Core 2 duo 1.86@2.311mhz

I gb ddr2 ram

Ati 1900gt 256mb

win xp pro

Fps now hit over 100 fps in closed spaces but drop to around 55/60 and no lower no matter where I travel.

I do understand people are still having problems with the game and fps but at least they can take some positive results to mean the game is worth buying and well worth playing and at some point will be running ok on their pc.

Sad that these old drivers don't support my X1950XTX card. I hope ATI will fix these problems in the 7.3 drivers.

yes, it is sad. i have been waiting on ATI to get new drivers out to fix not only proformance issues but i also crash when viewing any videos be it streaming or dowloaded.

7.3 should be out in a week or two.

Oh lord I should have read the sticky more carefully when I did read it. Missed the fact that there is no leak present in the 6.7 version.

I ended up playing all of last weekend, restarting every hour and a half or so because the lag became unbearable.

6.7's should work on the newer cards but using them you will lose some features that were incoroporated in the later sets or the sets that truely support your card.

For one example, 6.7's on my X1950Pro does not like Call of Juarez, I end up with a dazzling colourful screen instead of gameplay.

Lets hope this issue is fixed but it can be minimalised with the suggested workaround although I persoanlly haven't noticed the issue too much. On the other hand my system just likes to shutdown or reboot randomly during ArmA.

I would like to know as well, if and how the person with the X1950 got it running.

We have two people in our squad who have this card as well and they would like to use the 6.7 driver.

And yeah i havent tried the 6.7 driver cause the X1950 PRO was released after that patch.. didnt want to risk screwing it up. If anyone can confirm it works then i'll give it a try smile_o.gif

Running the 6.7's now. Can't say I see any performance increase on my X800XT... However, I'm not noticing any performance decrease as much over time. (ATI Driver Handle leak)
