celery 8 Posted March 3, 2007 Now that the sniper rifles have been fixed, I'd like to know how to use the new system. In OFP the Dragunov was pretty logical and easy to use, but I have never used the PSO sight we have in 1.05. When I aim my shots like in the book, the shots are a little off and the custom placed chevrons confuse me. The earlier M24 scope felt pretty logical and I was able to count the distance and bullet trajectory using the reticule dots, now the drop is huge after a few meters. How do I use 'em? Second 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Sniper rifles seems to have either bigger dispression or weapons stability (aka trigger-sqeeze-errors or something in english) without consentration seems to be tweaked to decrease accuracy even more than in earlier versions. It's hard for me to hit lying man with 12.7 mm rifles from over 500 meters... I need to train more not to over-use consentration.

http://www.binocularsmart.com/scopes/svd-rifle-scopes-pso-1.shtml That should help, the PSO-1 is used alot differently (a la the link) other than the mil-dot reticule that the Leopould uses (on the M24, Barrett), that link should help

I tried out some range finding on a sniping range in ArmA, but the numbers and chevrons still don't make any sense, the shots land lower than any proper calculation suggests. It's also a bit odd that soldiers 1.7 or 1.8 meters tall fit snugly in the 1.5 m range finder with the proper range. So, how does the dot scope work then? I'm having trouble finding out where to shoot other than guessing or memorizing. The M21 scope was sharp and deadly when the zoom was used properly, but now I'm wondering how a newer model could be so hard to hit with.
Col. Faulkner 0 Posted March 5, 2007 I haven't tried it out myself (I find the telescope views always choke my fps to death in the game) but I'd be very surprised if the mil-dots are anything other than pure decoration on the BIS rifles.
Second 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Funny thing about Barret's sights. It's dots covers maximum distance about 800 meter. I tested it with 1km range and aiming became quessing... Well it doesn't bother me: snipers are cowardly assh*les Those SLA's sniperrifles seems to be much more unaccurate. I can use their sights right, but seems that lying target is just too small for even from 500 meters. Dragunov i understand but that KVSK...
