Dewd 0 Posted March 3, 2007 I Bought Arma German version in January V1.02. I have a dual boot system XP and Vista, with a GeForce 8800. Â I enjoy trying the Vista side from time to time but its not totally ready. I installed Arma 3 times - XP, Vista, and my Server downstairs! 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, ACTIVITION. The Third activation was just for the server. I loved the game so much I bought a new motherboard to improve it! Â QX6700 and Striker Extreem 2 weeks ago! I was able to keep my XP install, but not the Vista install. Installed ArmA Again... 4th ACTIVATION I installed patch 1.05 but it made me reinstall from scratc h because I had the german english path. I CAN'T ACTIVATE ANYMORE. PLEASE HELP. I had to do it.. and now I have to WAIT for their responce.. $100 bucks says it'll take 2 weeks for them to respond.. I was making a movie on the ArmA for a school project... spend 6 hours on it already.. its due monday.. and now I have to do a completely different project because i know for a fact they will take their sweet little time to respond. sniper pilot 36 Posted March 3, 2007 after this expericance i will NEVER download a game again from anyone let alone sprocket or meteboli... I mean its bs you cant activate after you re-patch.... so lame...
Lt_Damage 0 Posted March 3, 2007 I will also never download a game again, I will wait for the trusty DVD version every time. This activation business is poorly thought out, if you are going to restrict the software in such a way then you should make sure you provide 24x7 support so that people are not waiting. BLSmith2112 0 Posted March 3, 2007 Same here. I will never buy a downloaded game again. Horrible experience.
=jps=sgtrock 4 Posted March 3, 2007 There are plenty of companies that know how to handle downloadable games. Take a look at the way that Steam games typically work, for example. There are other small publishers who don't automatically assume that you're out to screw them. I think the real lesson is, "Don't ever buy a game from Sprocket. They already think you're a thief." Too bad, too. I was seriously considering buying a copy of the English downloadable version from them. I'm not going to now. Not after reading all these horror stories. I wonder how many other sales have been lost over this debacle?

Dr. Mojo- PhD 0 Posted March 4, 2007 Quote[/b] ]I will also never download a game again, I will wait for the trusty DVD version every time. Don't assume that the DVD version of the game works well after a patch either...
Dewd 0 Posted March 4, 2007 THANKS ALL. I didn't know Bohemia wasn't who I should go after.  However I'm sure there are more people like me out there that have a bad taste in there mouth for Bohemia when it really is the reseller's fault.  Bohemia should put pressure on the resellers to be a bit more lenient with the activation codes since...    a - The copy potection works    b - Vista just came out and all the gamers are experimenting.    c - Bohemia has all kinds of versions/patches for ArmA in less than 3 months since the games release causing havoc around the world with reinstalls.    d - We are not 10 year olds playing with this type of advanced technology spreading free copies after using our credit cards online for the codes. And as for Dr. Mojo, PhD... Your reply is off topic.
Gunney 0 Posted March 4, 2007 lol i was thinking the same thing....why cant they be like steam where i can download it anytime i want? it works for them and i can think of 1 million reasons of why i might need to reinstall the game again and having to deal with crappy customer service to reactive is pathetic. I knew something smelled fishy when i bought from sprocket when they only had 2 other games selling =/
Dr. Mojo- PhD 0 Posted March 4, 2007 Not quite. Somebody mentioned that they will wait for a DVD version to make sure their game is playable after patches. The DVD version has problems of its own after patches. That seems to be on topic to me. Next time do your research so you don't look like an asshole. Quote[/b] ]lol i was thinking the same thing....why cant they be like steam where i can download it anytime i want? it works for them and i can think of 1 million reasons of why i might need to reinstall the game again and having to deal with crappy customer service to reactive is pathetic. I knew something smelled fishy when i bought from sprocket when they only had 2 other games selling =/ I wondered that myself. It's too bad as a Steam version would be good for pretty much everybody. Auto-patching, reactivation as required, no border limits for release dates, international release would really pad BI's pockets. DVD users wouldn't be getting these weird SecuRom problems, download users wouldn't be getting this reactivation stuff. Oh well, BI's fairly committed to fixing things as has been my experience with OFP/Resistance -- I just wish I had remembered that instead of getting all excited and getting my bud to grab me the game ASAP. firefox1 12 Posted March 4, 2007 I find better expect some 2 or 3 years ah yes I will be able to play armed assult without problems
Dewd 0 Posted March 4, 2007 To: Dr. Mojo, PhD This has nothing to do with the game operation. Â this has to do with ACTIVATION. Â I am not being denied of playing the game due to a technical failure. Â I am being denied as though I am not authorized to play the game I bought because I might have redistributed it. Â Thats what it is all about. With a DVD version, Â The DVD in my drive is my activation, Â not an online code. Again... your comment is off topic. And you don't need to be so angry. It's my problem rememeber? Not yours. Dr. Mojo- PhD 0 Posted March 4, 2007 AGAIN, my reply was on-topic because it was in reply to YOUR reply, as topic creator. Two, I was addressing another member feeling that the DVD would remove any problems, which it DOES NOT DO. Anybody not owning the game and reading that might assume it's the case and then grab the DVD and get screwed. It's fair warning to the topic fork. Now, if you want your topic to stop getting drowned, stop replying trying to be a selfish "me-me-me" ass and accept the fact that sometimes topics go in ways you can't control. If you don't want to lose site of the original topic just swallow the fact that it's sometimes not always about you and pointing out ON TOPIC that the DVD will NOT solve playability problems is perfectly okay. Dr. Mojo- PhD 0 Posted March 4, 2007 I'm not the one losing my mind because somebody came into "my" topic and started helping other people, at least partially. If I'm a sad little man and you're the one doing that, just what in the hell does that make you?
169th_Ice 0 Posted March 4, 2007 Replying to someones off-topic response, does not make the off-topic suddenly the topic does it ?
shadow 6 Posted March 4, 2007 ...and a 3rd person to point out that the second person is off-topic doesnt help much either, Ice. @Dr. Mojo, PhD: 48hr PR and WL1 for namecalling, flaming and generally a bad attitude.
