whenyoubite 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Bought the UK version (1.04), install went fine but it just will not load fully, it loads up to a black screen with mouse pointer then cuts out,, although iv never seen the last two ticks appearing. Im running Vista Ultimate x64. Been reading through these forums so tried disabling my onboard realtek sound card as I heard this could be a problem. No joy. Downloaded newest Nvidia drivers 100.65 (tried all the previous ones as well). Got DirectX feb2007. In fact all system drivers are current. Disabled any AV. Anyone got any ideas.. as this is the only game iv ever had trouble with, and I'd rather play than return

Thanks for the reply Although I cant find any sound hardware acceleration options in vista, or the realtek HD control panel (Onboard).

memnoch 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Have you tried running the game with compatibility settings on XP SP2? Might be worth a shot.
whenyoubite 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Hi guys, after a quick read I believe vista removed the ability for audio acceleration (and I certainly cant find it), also I tried SP2 compatability mode as soon as it failed loading. Appreciate the help, but it looks like im going to have to return it and hope when patch 1.05 comes out theres better vista suppourt (for me at least). A little dissapointed cause it looks like its a cool game.
desertfox 2 Posted February 28, 2007 Excuse me, but you buy a game where it reads "For Windows XP" on the box and in the manual, you install it under a different OS, and now complain because it does not work ? lol I don't get it. *EDIT* To be of some help here: Try setting up a dual boot system with XP/Vista and play Arma under XP. Takes 2 hours and solves your problem.

Yea obviously your missing 'something  lol I dont see any complaints... just a want to play it, request for help, and hope its vista supported in regard to my case in patch 1.05 cause it looks cool get it yet? (just some additional and should be unecessary clarification,, most games run fine in vista when designed for xp so its not unextraordinary to purchase a game under this pretext and with this hope... not expectation) NB: Installing an entire OS and resizing/restructuring partitions in order to play a single game is not a viable in my personal opinion, but the suggestion was appreciated anyway
