Rofflecopter 0 Posted February 16, 2007 You won't blow the card as it takes 2 power cables and your not going to put too much power in it, but you might damage the PSU if it doesn't have enough power. I have an 8800GTX and it has 2 power slots in (I didn't read instructions I just plugged the power into both), but my PSU has 2 PCI-E connectors already on it so it was quite natural. Rofflecopter 0 Posted February 16, 2007 I run my 8800GTX from a 500W supply dual rail and works fine (single not sli) This what I have. http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/120377/rb/25336518032 But on saying that I did find this, looks to be same problem. http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardwar....09.html
Luciano 0 Posted February 16, 2007 I doubt its the powersupply, or the whole system would just shut down. But its easy to check. Play a different game and see if it happens. If it only happens with ARMA, then its not the PSU.
bravo 6 0 Posted February 16, 2007 i tryed OFP, does it count? that was the other game i tryed..
Maximus_G 0 Posted February 16, 2007 dunno what to do.. Â Come on, fasad has pointed it out in bold. Don't doubt it. It's like running with 2 legs instead of
westy159 0 Posted February 16, 2007 The PSU not having the sufficient amount of amps on the +12V rails is likely. The whole computer would not shut down if so, it would shut down when the card is drawing more power (from playing games) and the PSU not being able to give it. But this two cable thing should be dealt with so, Barvo, have you tried connecting the second cable? After you put it in you should attempt to play ArmA and if it works well your problem is solved. If the same thing happens as before (computer shutting down needing a forced reboot) then yes the PSU is not powerful enough. It has enough watts, but the amps is the issue. Do not question it, just try it! Nothing terrible will happen.
bravo 6 0 Posted February 16, 2007 dunno what to do.. Come on, fasad has pointed it out in bold. Don't doubt it. It's like running with 2 legs instead of 1 desperated i tryed to connect both cables.. and it worked. ARMA is working now. Though they don't mention anything about both cabes connected at same time in the manual. infact they show an image of an old 9700 pro card with old connectors and not this "big fat" connectors from power supply. Case closed. im using same 550W power supply and connected both cables from power supply and game runs.. at least at the menu. Ill try the game later. Got to go out. THANKS FOR HELP ALL! apreciated! CG Man 0 Posted February 16, 2007 Well done When I got my Geforce 6800 GT card the manual said only one power conector but the manufacturer provided the card overclocked with 256Mb ram instead of 128MB and so added a second power socket and didnt say anything about it in the manual. I only knew as adding two power conectors was mentioned in the review.
Jack-UK 0 Posted February 16, 2007 im using Windows XP Professional version portuguese + sp2.about the power supply: this is the info available on the web site: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">LCPOWER SUPERSILENT V2 550W ROHS Link Produto: LCPower Descrição: -Fonte de 550w -Fan de 120mm Conectores: -24-Pin, -4-Pin, -2 x Floppy, -7 x Molex, -1 x SATA, -1 x 6-Pin-Server Garantia: 2 ano(s) on the side it says: <ul>ATX12V switching power supply voltage: 230v current: 4A its says more about it.. i just dont understand much about power supplys ill try to get a pic of it. edit: http://bravocompany.home.sapo.pt/pwsupply.jpg woops i assumed you put both them cables in lol... BUT i would definately reccomend that you get a better PSU as that low amps could damage your graphics card or other hardware... it will hinder the life of your PC unless you get a better one... Its not necessary but i would DEFINATELY reccomend it...
