Computer Crash

Recommended Posts

I had originally bought the game, it played fine, I could play it on normal/low settings. I would get the sprocket problem where my game would CTD, so I would just install the demo and play that [Which played fine]

I had recently formated my computer. I figure why waste an install my sprocket, i'll just wait till I get my new CPU in month or 2. So i download the demo and install, open it, and every single time, my computer will just shut-down and reboot. I don't understand why its doing this now when I could play fine before? I can play other games still like BF2 and stuff but not ArmA, Any idea???

P4 3.0

Geforce 6800 Ultra

2 gig ram

There's a demo troubleshooting thread - where you should look.

Sounds like a driver related problem to me though.

IMHO it's a RAM problem: try run MemTest86+ and, if your system continues to reboot, you should check if your ram modules aren't damaged. biggrin_o.gif

Maybe Arma uses more ram?

Did you check if you also have your drivers up to date?

Nope I tried it, and another driver and it didnt work. I also reinstalled the drivers to beginning with the CD, still didn't. I notice that RIGHT before it crashs, a blue screen shows with white test but it goes so fast I can't really read it x_X

If you want to read the blue screen disable 'automatic reboot' on system error in the Windows settings.

I have this same problem... Turns out i could fix it by changing Texture Detail to Normal or Low in the ArmA settings.. But still... that shouldnt happen..

Basically what happens is that after a short while of playing the virtual memory starts clogging up with ArmA stuff and Windows cant run it and doesnt have enough resources to run background services (i got error messages from my VIA RAID tool telling me that there is insufficient resources) and then if i carry on playing the computer restarts with a blue screen..

I read the blue screen breifly before it restarted...

It said "PAGE FILE FAULT" or something like that.. i increased my pagefile to 4GB and it helped... i could play for longer... but it still crashed...

I have 1GB RAM + 512mb VRAM on my GFX card

You can still edit the .armaprofile files in your 'my documents' folder.

Maybe some basic settings are restored if you just (backup and) delete them.

ooooo ty Cloonsey biggrin_o.gif I fixed it. It did turn out to be a Sound problem, i updated the driver and it did work. I also "by mistake" installed my OLD driver SB Live or whatever when i formated, but when I uninstalled that, it didnt seem to help so that wasn't the problem, so updating my SB Audigy 2 ZS Driver seemed to make it work ^_^
